He was the real Billy The Kid.
A hilarious video shows the moment a shirtless Alabama man jumped out of his vehicle in an attempt to catch a goat that famously escaped by jumping on top of the spirited animal.
An entire Alabama community came together this summer to capture the goat affectionately named “Billy,” who always seemed to be on the verge of escaping capture.
Ward Webb, 26, was driving a golf cart down a road in Birmingham on July 20 when he headed towards the white goat as it sped across the front yard of a house.
Without hesitation, Webb lunged at Billy with outstretched arms, but missed the animal by inches.
Webb scrambled to his feet and began chasing Billy before realizing the escape artist already had a significant advantage.
“I’ll take his ass,” Webb – his pants marked with grass stains – said as he jumped back into the cart and began driving in reverse.

Webb is said to have caught Billy off camera moments later with the help of another neighborhood man, but the goat proved too slippery – he escaped again and spent another three days on the lam before finally being returned to his owner.
Webb’s girlfriend, Hannah Perkinson, said the “good country boy” released his dog when he saw Billy, who had become a local celebrity since jumping out of his owner’s pick-up three days earlier in the neighboring town of Mountain Brook.
“I saw about the loose goat on the news but we didn’t plan to catch it,” said Perkinson, who snapped a photo of the near-catch. “But he jumped the fence again the same day.”

Community members in Mountain Brook and Birmingham have invested in Billy’s escape.
T-shirt designs and “Free Billy” stickers were launched while he was on the lam and some residents took steps to track his sightings.
The Mountain Brook police department is also asking for tips on sightings after receiving numerous reports of goats.

After six days on the loose, Billy is finally persuaded by some members of a local Jewish community group after an hours-long chase at their campus Levite JCC.
“He really is the greatest of all time. Billy is now back in the hands of his owner,” the group said.
