A UK teenager has been sentenced to two years in prison after he killed an elderly man with a single punch, surveillance footage shows.
Omar Moumeche was 16 when he punched Dennis Clarke, 82, at Derby bus station – located about 80 miles outside Manchester – in May 2021.
Clarke suffered a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain, causing him to die in hospital nine days later.
The teenager, now 18, was sentenced to two years in prison on Friday after being convicted of murder in July.
While at Derby’s Eagle Market, Clarke stopped to speak to a group of teenagers frolicking on the escalator, blocking her, surveillance footage released by Derbyshire Constabulary shows.
The Army veteran – who served in Singapore – then left the supermarket and headed for the bus station around 4:30pm, but the group of three teenagers followed him.
The teenagers seemed to surround him, and Moumeche pushed the old man away. Clarke then pushed him back.

Moments later, Clarke was seen falling to the ground, hitting her head and falling unconscious, police said.
Moumeche fled the station and was arrested a short time later.
During the week-long trial, Moumeche’s defense claimed the teenager “acted in self-defense.”

The other two boys have not been charged, according to Derbyshire Constabulary.
Clarke’s family said they had been “left with an empty feeling” following his death, according to The Mirror.
Clarke’s nephew, Ricky Davey, revealed in a victim impact statement that the veteran served in the Sherwood Foresters regiment and was a fisherman in his spare time.

She also loves to dance and “loves her family,” is a devout Christian and is part of the church choir.
“It will take years to come to terms with such a terrible death,” Davey said.
“His death has left a hole in the lives of the whole family and we have just been left with an empty feeling.”
