Shonda Rhimes Reportedly NOT Interested In Adapting Britney Spears’ Memoir

While Shonda Rhimes may have written the script for Britney Spears’ 2002 film “Crossroads,” she doesn’t seem interested in making a movie out of Britney’s wildly successful memoir, “The Woman In Me.”

Celebrities such as Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon and Shonda Rhimes have all been rumored to be trying to secure the rights to Britney’s memoir to turn it into a visual medium; however, a new report indicates that the “Grey’s Anatomy” creators are not interested in the project.

As The Blast previously reported, many celebrities are trying to get the rights to Britney’s story book, in which she opens up about her past relationships, her love life, her decades-long career in the entertainment industry, and her complicated relationship with her estranged family. According to The Ankler, some producers are willing to bid somewhere in the “mid-eight-figure range” to turn Britney’s book into a movie.

Margot Robbie, hot on the heels of the success of “Barbie,” is looking to adapt the memoir through her company LuckyChap Productions. Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B Entertainment and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine are also reportedly vying for the rights to Britney’s book.

Although Shonda Rhimes wrote the screenplay for Britney’s 2002 film “Crossroads” and helped bring to life the hit series “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Bridgerton,” she reportedly has no interest in bringing “The Woman In Me” to the big screen.

“Shondaland is not moving forward with this project,” a spokesperson for her company told the outlet. In any case, initial customization is still in its early stages and offers continue to flow in. An insider said that the project is “just starting to take shape.”

The source also stated that Britney recently rescheduled a meeting with an unnamed top producer “at the last minute” because she “wasn’t feeling it.”

A producer who previously worked with the Princess of Pop told the outlet that Britney “doesn’t give as— who you are,” adding, “She always is. It’s just Britney.” However, the producer is reportedly “very compassionate” to the Princess of Pop and is waiting to tell her story on her own terms.
