Sister of Army engineer allegedly beheaded by son shares shock at ghastly crime: ‘We can’t believe it’

An aunt of Justin Mohn, the conspiracy theorist accused of beheading his father and displaying his head in a YouTube video, said his family was completely shocked by her brother’s gruesome murder.

“Unbelievable. It was very fresh,” Mary Jasch told the Daily Mail about the beheading of her brother, 68-year-old Michael Mohn, at his Levittown home on Tuesday.

“We couldn’t believe it,” Jasch said of his family’s reaction.

“I can’t even think of anything [Michael’s] wife is going through it,” he said of his sister-in-law Denice Mohn, whose headless body was found on Tuesday.

“No one can believe it.”

His brother had worked for the Army Corps of Engineers as a geo-environmental engineer serving the Philadelphia area for more than two decades before he was allegedly killed by his son – who declared in a YouTube video that his father was a “federal employee of over 20 years” while holding his head up bleeding for all to see.

In a statement, the Army Corps said it was “deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of our teammate Michael Mohn.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mohn family as we focus on supporting our grieving employees at this time.”

His mother, Denice Mohn, called police around 7 p.m. after finding her husband’s headless body with “a large amount of blood around him,” according to court documents obtained by Levittown Now.

“Officers also found the deceased male’s head in a plastic bag that was in a cooking pot in the first floor bedroom adjacent to the bathroom,” Middletown Township police and Bucks County Detectives wrote in court papers filed Wednesday morning.

A machete and large kitchen knife were found in the bathtub, and bloody rubber gloves in a first-floor bedroom, police said.

As police investigated the brutal murder, they received a tip about a 14-minute YouTube video — seen by The Post before it was deleted — in which Mohn held up a severed head in a blood-soaked plastic bag, claiming it belonged to his father.

“He is now in hell for eternity as a traitor to his country,” Mohn said, before going on a tirade against the government in line with the QAnon conspiracy theory, calling on “militia” across the US to unite and kill federal officials “on the spot.”

The video, titled “Mohn’s Militia – Call to Arms for American Patriots,” was posted to YouTube around 5:30 p.m. and appears to have been recorded in a bedroom where Mohn appears to be reading from a written manifesto on his computer screen.

In the recording, Mohn claims to be the commander of an American militia network as he rants against immigrants, the Biden administration, the LBGTQ community, Black Lives Matter and “leftist mobs,” while calling for the slaughter and public execution of FBI Agents, IRS employees, US marshals, federal judges, border control officers and more “for betraying their country.”

He was later spotted carrying a gun and wandering around the Fort Indiantown Gap complex, a sprawling campus more than 100 miles from the home where he is accused of killing his father, a spokesman for the state Department of Military and Veterans Affairs confirmed to The Post.

Mohn was later arrested without incident, and Middletown Police Chief Joe Bartorilla told the victim’s wife to tell Mohn’s siblings “before they see the video or the video is sent to them,” according to the Bucks County Courier Times.

“We are being contacted by several people in the community who know us, and know him and his family,” Bartorilla said. “And we hear a lot. Obviously, he is known in the community just by the calls we receive.”

Neighbors said they noticed the younger Mohn began exhibiting strange behavior over the summer.

“He just started acting funny,” Bart DeHaven told 6ABC.

“I made several calls to the police department because he was sitting there… staring at my house constantly. I thought, ‘that’s kind of weird.'”

DeHaven said he didn’t feel threatened by Mohn’s behavior “but it’s weird for someone to continue to sit there, staring right into my house.

“You know, when I get home he’ll just pick up and move,” DeHaven said, calling the behavior “weird.”

In private, however, Mohn would share unbridled content online — including songs and books about Satan, stalkers and corrupt presidential candidates.

He once wrote a pamphlet titled “The Coming Bloody American Revolution,” in which he suggested he would have to kill family members in the “inevitable” violent revolution.

“Americans need to weigh what’s worse – allowing themselves to lose their freedom and independence or killing their own family members, teachers, co-workers, bosses, judges, elected leaders and other older generations,” he wrote.

Mohn also filed at least three lawsuits against federal agencies, including the US government, over his student loan debt.

In one, he claims the US government “negligently and fraudulently” induced him to take out student loans between 2010 and 2014 to pay for his education at Penn State University.

He claims he should have been warned that his degree in agribusiness management would be worthless in getting a job because he was an “overeducated white guy.”

Mohn was arraigned at 4 a.m. Wednesday and was denied bail, according to court documents. He is scheduled for trial on February 8.
