Meri Brown is digging into what led to the breakup of her marriage to Kody Brown, and her fingers are pointing straight back to the ring situation that happened years ago.
The mother of one, who hopes to reconcile after Kody broke up, has called out the father of 18 for being inconsistent and refusing to take responsibility for their current situation.
Meri Brown Can’t Get Over Kody Brown Throwing Out Their Wedding Rings
In the latest episode of the special “One-on-One” show with Sukanya Krishnan, Meri Brown had no choice but to reveal how much Kody’s decision to melt their wedding ring affected her.
The 52-year-old, clearly upset that Christine Brown chose to tell the story without his consent, stated that Kody no longer wanted him to have any claim on her, hence the ring’s meltdown.
Before Meri goes up, Christine shares Meri’s reaction to Kody’s new ring after he takes off the family Claddagh ring he wears with all his wives. The 51-year-old explained to Krishnan that there was a background to Meri’s reaction because they always had a wedding ring.
However, as Kody prepares to welcome Robyn Brown into the family, he melts the ring and keeps the gold and diamonds. The mother of five recounted Meri’s reaction at the time, saying:
“Well, Meri found out, she was like, ‘Well, where’s my ring? You don’t use it anymore. He was like, ‘Oh, I melted it,’ just like that.”

Christine added that Kody’s “hurtful” decision caused them (all the wives) to leave the family’s Claddagh ring together.
In another part of the interview, Meri admits her frustration about Christine spilling the tea even casually. “He can laugh about all he wants, but it’s not his business to tell. If I want to share the story of the past 13 years publicly, I will,” added Meri.
Still, she explained the escalating situation, stating that it was something difficult for her to deal with, and added, “Who’s to say he didn’t just melt our whole relationship at that time? Symbolically, that’s what he did to me.”
Meri went on to say that Kody pulled out seven years before his catfishing scandal in 2015, which she claims happened because of the lack of friends around him. Kody finally ended his marriage to Meri in 2022 after spending more than three decades together and welcoming three more sister wives.
In the last episode, Meri also announced her plans to leave Kody and focus on her bed and breakfast business in Utah while explaining that Kody’s inconsistency was unbearable. Meri added that he refused to admit his fault in the rift in their marriage publicly despite expressing his lack of interest in private.
Last month, The Blast shared that Kody told Meri he had no plans to work things out between them. The patriarch refused to give her the same share of the family’s Coyote Pass property as he did with the other wives.
The father of 18 also appeared relieved at the dissolution of their union and revealed in his confessional that “it was a negotiation that was long overdue,” adding, “I mean, maybe seven wasted years for Meri, I don’t know. But we have agreed now, and I hope he finds peace because I will.”
Meri Hopes Things Are A Little Different Between Her And Kody
Meri certainly isn’t hinting at a bittersweet ending for the union as she’s shown a willingness for a possible reconciliation despite Kody’s refusal to go any further, a decision she wishes the 54-year-old had expressed earlier.
“He should have told me because I’m still sitting here and clinging to the idea that maybe you can get out of your head,” Meri lamented in a previous episode of “Special One-on-One.”
He revealed that he didn’t live up to Kody’s expectations in the marriage, because he would ask him to do something and be a certain way or to fix a certain situation, but it was never good enough.
However, The Blast shared that Meri’s moment of clarity finally came during an awkward birthday dinner in the October episode with Kody who told her he had no desire to be in a relationship.
The 52-year-old revealed that Kody’s rant that night prompted her to “take steps to move forward to work through” their marriage.
