NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” imagined if time stood still and Donald Trump finally appeared at the Republican debate.
While the real-life former president and current GOP front-runner spent Saturday night attending a UFC fight at Madison Square Garden, his “SNL” alter ego gleefully disparaged his Republican rivals and reminded viewers who’s the best.
The show kicked off with “SNL” describing its own network’s Wednesday competition as a “kid’s table debate,” featuring Ego Nwodim as Vivek Ramaswamy, Heidi Gardner as Nikki Haley, John Higgins as Ron DeSantis, Molly Kearney as Chris Christie and Devon Walker as Senator Tim Scott.
Then Trump, played by James Austin Johnson, storms onto the scene with a smile on his face nearly the size of his polling lead.
“How cute that they thought they had a chance. Sad in some ways, but funny in others. Can you believe it? Ninety-one indictments, four trials. And I’m still the best choice,” Trump faked as the debate froze in the background.

“Now they’re all stuck behind me. And there’s nothing they can do about it, just like in real life — three percent, eight percent, 14%, five percent,” he quipped, checking their polling numbers.
Trump noted that Scott only polled at one percent, “lower than milk frankly,” leading to a new nickname for the senator.
“We love the Scott Scheme. We love him,” Trump’s Johnson said. “And his girlfriend. There’s not much chemistry between them, right? They make me and Melania look like Taylor and Travis.”
SNL’s Trump explained why he couldn’t attend the verbal showdown — he skipped all three in real life and hinted at plans to boycott the fourth on Dec. 6, too.
“None of them can beat Joe Biden. Worst president since, frankly, me,” he quipped. “I am very, very busy. I would go from trial to trial. I’m basically doing ‘House Hunters’ but with a courtroom.”
In real life, Trump chose a counterprogramming rally in Hialeah, Fla. nearby. But in SNL land, Trump is having the time of his life, crowing about his dominance.

Scott began his career with his girlfriend, design and remodeling manager Mindy Noce during a verbal spat, sending tongues wagging across the country.
One by one, Trump Johnson taunted his Republican rivals on stage.
“What about Vivek Ramaswamy? We love to mention Ramaswamy! But do we like him?” SNL’s Trump asked. “He is a lot like me. Except for one thing that is very important to my horrible, horrible foundation: White! Sad. He’s not going anywhere.”

“Poor Ron DeSantis, even ‘SNL’ doesn’t think he has a chance. If they do, it will be like Paul Rudd has something there.”
“What about Nikki Haley, right,” he quipped. “I have trouble listening to women over 25.”
“How can we forget Chris Christie? It’s actually quite simple. You just go,” he glared about Trump’s attack dog.

Trump Johnson later aired some of Trump’s real-life grievances about his legal battle.
“They say I committed fraud,” he said. “Not true, OK? Incorrect. I have done many things; adultery, treachery, a lot of deception, maybe.”
He then expressed how sad it was that prosecutors forced “sweet middle-aged children of criminals” to testify against him, and predicted how it would all end.
“It will be very sad when I put it all on one of them, maybe Eric,” he said.
This week’s “SNL” was hosted by actor Timothée Chalamet, who cheered the recent agreement between the actors’ union and studio SAG-AFTRA, ending a multi-month strike.
This episode also features musical guest boygenius.
