Sofia Vergara Hit With Lawsuit Over New Netflix Show

As anticipation builds for Vergara’s latest drama series release, the star is named as a defendant in legal documents with Netflix for allegedly using the Blanco family’s images and likenesses without permission.

The late drug kingpin’s children’s argument centered on claims that the streaming platform illegally borrowed elements of their family’s stories. According to Michael, Griselda’s son, discussions about his family’s story began in 2009 and continued until 2022.

He revealed that individuals approached him for interviews, expressing interest in developing his story into a book and a show. Promises have been made to promote the narrative around Hollywood by 2016.

Although Netflix was interested, he stated that at first, they refused to use his narrative or any material, only for them to insert aspects of his story and material into the “Griselda” series without proper credit or compensation.

While the lawsuit reportedly acknowledged the streaming giant’s right to create a show about the late public figure, Griselda’s children argued that the series went beyond that, portraying them without their consent.
