Sruthy Sithara is an Indian model and artist who is the first transgender woman in the country to win the title of Miss Trans Global in 2021. Earlier, she was also crowned “Queen of Dhwayah 2018” and was declared the first runner-up in the Miss Chamayam pageant in 2017. Sruthy Sithara was born Praveen on Monday, 6 May 1996 (age 26; in 2021). His zodiac sign is Taurus. Born and brought up in Vaikom, Kottayam in Kerala, Sithara did her schooling at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Kottayam, Kerala, and she also went to school in Uttar Pradesh for a year when she was in Class 9. Career
Sruthy worked in a firm for two years after completing her studies until she was named as one of the four transgenders in Kerala to receive a government job. She worked in the Transgender cell of the Directorate of Social Justice of Kerala as a Project Assistant from 2018 to 2019. Sithara revealed in an interview that at that time in 2018 she revealed her identity to her father and brother who followed her. through a full body transformation in the same year. He added,
I was working in the Social Justice department at the time. I think, mainly because of that, I don’t have many difficulties. My family also understood my decision. All my life I hid. When I went to college, I met other people in the community.”
Sithara continued in the transition field after her transition and became the first runner-up in the Miss Chamayam pageant in 2017. The next year, on 18 June 2018, Sruthy was crowned “Queen Dhwayah 2018” at a transgender beauty pageant held in Kochi. Three years later came her biggest achievement when she won the title of “Miss Trans Global 2021” and became the first Indian to achieve the feat. On the morning of December 1, 2021, the title was almost given to Sithara, who competed in the competition for the past six months. Sruthy was also crowned “Most Eloquent Queen” at the same pageant.
When Sithara was interviewed after her win, she said,
I never expected to win the title of Ms Trans Global India. I am very happy. This is a month of pride, it’s also a boost to my community. It is a great opportunity and I am proud to represent my country and community on a global platform.”
Sruthy was selected in the competition based on her audition tape in which she said:
That title will help me in leading and inspire a life of self-esteem, pride and dignity, not just for me, but for a group of people who hide their faces under the rainbow shade. I want to show the world that we can do everything that humans do.”

- During Sruthy’s year at school in Uttar Pradesh, she was bullied several times which had a lasting effect on her mental health, and the school faculty contacted her parents for treatment. She further revealed in an interview that her femininity also often made her the subject of bullying in school and college. Sithara added,
I have also experienced different types of ‘treatment’ that a transgender person would normally face from peers in school and college. My feminine nature often makes me the subject of jokes and hurtful comments. There were many who found one reason or another to poke fun at me, but I managed to deal with it by changing the subject, laughing it off or pretending I wasn’t paying attention. I hardly respond to nasty comments directed at me.
- By enrolling at the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, New Delhi to pursue the post of Company Secretary, Sithara became the first transgender person to study at the institute.
- Sruthy dedicated the Miss Trans Global 2021 title to her late mother and friend, Kerala’s first transgender RJ, Ananyah Kumari Alex, who died after committing suicide in 2021.

- The winners of the competition aim to crack the Civil Services exam and strive for the same. Sithara revealed in an interview in 2018 that she appeared in the exam that same year with her male identity because UPSC did not have a transgender column; however, he was unable to clear it. He added,
I ignored the negativity around because I had a dream and all my focus was on that – to become an IAS officer. That was my mother’s dream and now it’s my dream. I want to work towards uplifting people from socially and economically challenging premises.”
