In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Golden Globe winner talked about the “vibe” of her new film and what it was like working with Jamie Foxx. “There’s something about us being able to be silly about aspects of our culture that makes me laugh,” Boyega said.

“Blaxploitation movies have always represented movies that allowed us to express ourselves, and we could just look cool and do s—,” he continued. “It doesn’t matter if we know kung fu. Everything makes sense with the music, with the vibe. I’m just proud to at least be a part of something that pays homage to that.”

Boyega said that the “Ray” star was constantly improvising on set and “Everybody was just cracking jokes. Even though it faced a lot of production delays related to COVID-19, he described the set as a big family and called it his “number one best time” once he experienced filming a movie.

“It’s a hell of a thing to be a part of, and the crew is amazing,” he said. “A lot of them are based in Atlanta, so a lot of black people in this. And really, it’s just a vibration. That culture only lives on set.”
