In Nicks Relationship With Her Legendary Rock Star Friends!
In Nicks’ letter, she mentioned the identity of the musician whose song she covered.
This mystery man isn’t the only rock star to have been in a relationship with Nicks!
The Blast has covered Nicks’ relationships with many famous faces over the years. Most recently, Nicks publicly mourned her late friend, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins following his death in March.
Upon hearing the news of Hawkins’ death, Nicks shared a sweet photo of the two of them on her Instagram account and wrote a lengthy tribute to him.
She wrote, “Thankful for the photo booth at the Foo Fighters studio. Because of these pictures my friendship with Taylor will always be at my fingertips. She always comes to my shows. She and her best friend Dave [Grohl] let me be a Foo Fighter for a while. We recorded a kick version of ‘Gold Dust Woman’ (live) and at the end of the song I screamed ‘Best Gold Dust Woman’ and I meant it.”
Nicks went on to write “Taylor is so handsome and she’s so cute. Sometimes that combination is so much better than ‘pretty.’ I think it’s everything. She has a big heart and a great smile. When she walks into a room, everybody looks up. When she walks out of a room, everybody’s sad,” she continued. Nicks also shared the lyrics of the song inspired by Hawkins.
The “Gold Dust Woman” also had a long relationship with another late rocker. Nicks’ longtime friendship with the late Tom Petty began in the late 1970s and continued until his death in 2017.
However, their friendship over the years was not without occasional arguments. Earlier this year The Blast covered a number of instances where the rock stars clashed, including one where the two clashed after Petty allegedly declared Fleetwood Mac a “corporate soft rock” band.
According to our report, the two were in Australia when they had this particular argument, which is recalled in “Gold Dust Woman: The Autobiography Of Stevie Nicks.”
Petty recalled “He got really mad at me one night in Australia” after the two compared the musical styles of Fleetwood Mac and Petty’s band, The Heartbreakers. After taking the stand that her band was more of a rock and roll band, Nicks allegedly exclaimed, “How dare you say that to me?”
Petty insisted that he meant well with his argument. He later explained, “I love the band, so much respect for Lindsey [Buckingham] and Mick [Fleetwood], but I don’t see them as a rock and roll band. I think his journey is different than mine.”
The “Breakdown” singer went on to elaborate on his comments.
“I don’t always agree with his taste in music,” Petty continued, “and he doesn’t always agree with me. My frustration with him is ‘You need someone to remind you what you’re capable of. You’re too distracted by the fanboys who want to make a hit. . I don’t know why you’re doing all this synthesizer rock,” he explained.
Nicks Announces New Skins of THIS Classic!
Nicks may be out of her “synthesizer rock” phase, but she hasn’t managed to expand her repertoire!
Earlier today he announced he will be releasing a cover of “For What It’s Worth” written by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Stephen Stills Young, on Friday!
The handwritten letter read, “I’m so excited to release my new song this Friday. It’s called ‘For What It’s Worth’ and it was written by Stephen Stills in 1966. It meant something to me then, and it means something to me now. I always wanted to interpret it through the eyes of a woman – and it seems like today, in the times we live in, it has a lot to say.”
He ended his letter with “I can’t wait for you to hear it.”
Nicks also used a hashtag featuring the song’s title in her tweets.
