Noah Schnapp has revealed that his grandfather supported his decision to come out as gay.
The actor shared in a TikTok post to fans that he got a heartwarming text message after he revealed his sexuality on the same platform. The content of the text read that Schnapp’s grandfather was “happy” that the actress had chosen to “open up”.
Schnapp previously came out as gay in January. At the time, she highlighted how she and her “Stranger Things” character share the same sexuality. He also told Diversity last year that his character is “100% gay.” The actor’s co-star Finn Wolfhard recently stated that he was “so proud” of Schnapp for coming out to the public about his sexuality.

In a February 8 TikTok post, Schnapp showed fans an emotional text message his grandfather sent him after he publicly announced he was gay.
The message emphasized that Schnapp’s decision did not change the old man’s feelings towards him.
“Hey Noah, I realized today about your public announcement that you are gay,” Noah’s grandfather wrote, per Insider. “I just want you to know that I love you just the same, and I’m happy for you to open up and be yourself.”
His grandfather also urged him to stick to himself and reminded him that he also had the support of other family members.
The message also read, “Just be proud of who and what you are. Iris and I support your honesty and ability to express your true self! Love you to the moon and back.”

Schnapp previously came out as gay on social media platforms last month. He shared the news with his fans in a short clip of him lip-syncing to the audio, saying, “You know what never happens? It’s serious. It’s never been that serious. Honestly, it’s never been that serious.”
Written across the video is a statement that reads, “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and they just said ‘we know.’”
She also captioned the video, “I guess I’m more like Will than I thought.” Schnapp’s caption references how he shares the same sexuality as his “Stranger Things” character. The actor previously confirmed that his character is gay during an interview with Variety in July 2022.

At the time, he told the publication that Will’s sexuality had been hinted at in the series since the first installment. However, it became more apparent after she shyly declared her love for Mike (Wolfhard) in Season Four, Episode Eight of “Stranger Things,” “Papa.”
“Obviously, it was hinted at in Season 1: It’s always kind of there, but you never really know, is he just growing up slower than his friends?” Schnapp said in the interview, per Insider.
The actor then reiterated that Will’s feelings for Mike were real, just like his sexuality, and that it was all part of the actor’s plan to portray the character that way.
He added, “Now that he’s getting older, they make it a very real and obvious thing. Now it’s 100% clear that he’s gay, and he does love Mike.”
Finn Wolfhard Is ‘So Proud’ Of Noah Schnapp

Unsurprisingly, Wolfhard, was one of the many people who congratulated Schnapp on his decision to come out as gay.
The actor, who recently starred in a new movie, “When You Finish Saving the World,” told GQ in early January that he was “so proud” of Schnapp for taking the brave step of going public with his sexuality.
“When I saw him, I just had a big smile on my face,” he told the publication while discussing his relationship with his co-star, per Insider. “I’m very proud of him.”
He also discussed how they all share a close bond on and off screen.
“In the same way that family works, if I need anything, they’re there,” added the actor.
