Suzanne Morphew’s body was dumped in remote Colorado area known as ‘The Boneyard’ — where aspiring Marine was found months prior

The body of Colorado mother Suzanne Morphew was dumped in a remote area known as “The Boneyard,” where a Marine candidate was found dead earlier this year and another woman went missing in May.

James Montoya, 26, disappeared in early April after leaving a bar with two men the night before he was scheduled to meet with an army recruiter, his mother Carmen Montoya told The Daily Mail.

Her body was found in July near Moffat, Colorado during an unrelated search for Edna Quintana, 55, who went missing in the same area in May.

Investigators continued to search for Quintana last week when they found Morphew’s body in a shallow grave in Saguache County – about 45 miles from his home.

‘They call it The Boneyard because so many people are there, and it’s a secluded area,’ Montoya’s mother told the outlet.

She said she went to the remote site herself after her son’s body was found.

“To see where my son was, of course, there were no cars around,” he said. “You can be in that area for hours and not see anyone.”

Morphew, who lives with her husband Barry and their two children, went missing in May 2020 after setting out for a cycling trip.

Investigators found the bike dumped in a ditch near their home the day after she disappeared.

Both Barry and Suzanne Morphew reportedly had affairs during their volatile marriage, and Suzanne told her partner that their relationship was over just days before she disappeared.

Her husband became the main suspect in the case and was charged with murder before the case was dropped in April 2022 due to lack of evidence.

Morphew’s body had not yet been found when he was charged.

The landscape lawyer insisted last week that he had been the wrong target in the case and that Morphew’s death could be linked to other deaths and missing persons cases in the area.

Attorney Iris Eytan suggested Suzanne Morphew’s 2020 death could be linked to another unsolved case in Saguache County, Colorado. Denver7

“It is ludicrous for anyone to try to fit the now known facts with previous false assumptions and accusations,” he wrote in a statement to KKTV.

He argued that he was “the most scrutinized, dissected, monitored individual” when his wife disappeared – but was never tied to the Moffat area.

He filed a $15 million lawsuit against prosecutors in May accusing them of violating his constitutional rights.

Dad also maintains the support of his two grown daughters. Both women said they do not believe he had anything to do with their mother’s death.

His legal time also accused prosecutors of withholding evidence in the case — including DNA from an unidentified man found on Suzanne Morphew’s glove box linked to a string of unsolved sexual assault cases in Chicago and Arizona.

Despite their marital discord, Bay has denied any involvement in his wife’s disappearance and insists that they “have a wonderful life, a wonderful marriage.”
