Sydney Sweeney is trying hard to avoid getting stuck playing the same role she did in “Euphoria.”
Since 2019, the talented actress has played the role of Cassie Howard, a misguided and sensitive ex-skater who is often considered a promiscuous as she struggles with a toxic relationship.
This filming often resulted in her featuring various intimate, sometimes semi-nude scenes. Despite playing the character perfectly, Sweeney deliberately avoids getting involved with it.
Sydney Sweeney’s Appearance In THIS Film Set Her Apart From Her Colleagues
While it is common for many accomplished actors to find themselves repeatedly portraying certain characters, Sweeney did not allow the same fate to befall him. Faced with the strange situation her peers are stuck in, the “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” actor stated during a Variety interview, “It’s kind of sad to watch.”
Fortunately for her, her appearances in the comedy drama series “The White Lotus” and the 2023 drama film “Reality” have shown the public that she is far from being Cassie. To that end, he shared:
“I don’t think I’ll ever be able to change it, but I’m glad that people are like, ‘Wow, he can act.’ [For every project since Euphoria]I had to prove people wrong.”

During the same conversation, Sweeney touched on how he feels about always being in the news for random speculation about his life. In addition to addressing speculation about her family’s political situation, the “Madame Web” star has also been accused of having an affair with “Anyone But You” actor Glen Powell.
“Sometimes I feel beaten by him. It’s hard to sit and watch, and not be able to stand alone,” he said of the allegations. Going further to explain the situation with Powell, which began after they presented the film at CinemaCon in Las Vegas earlier this year, he declared:
“It’s a rom-com. That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t care. We have a lot of fun together, and we have a lot of respect for each other; he is a hard worker, and I am a hard worker. We talk all the time like, ‘That’s really funny.’”
Primetime Emmy Award Nominees Asked to Show Less
As we mentioned above, the 25-year-old blonde’s role as “Euphoria” sometimes means she has to appear in semi-nude scenes. While that seemed to work for him and his supporters, his father, Steven Sweeney, told a different story.
The Blast notes that Sydney revealed on the June episode of “Sunday Today with Willie Geist” that Steven was uncomfortable watching her racist scenes on the HBO drama series. Detailing what happened during one of those scenes, the “Big Teen” performer shared:
“My father and grandfather turned it off and walked out. But my grandmother, my grandmother – she was my big supporter. He’s a big fan of mine.”

As it turns out, the actress’ father initially believed the show was similar to other shows he had seen and was shocked to discover his daughter’s involvement in several nude scenes. Sydney, on the other hand, takes responsibility for her reaction, admitting that she didn’t “prepare” him adequately beforehand.
He also acknowledged their lack of conversation about work, which could contribute to oversight on his part. “When I talk to my dad, it’s usually not about work. We talk like a father-daughter conversation,” the Dorian Television Award nominee admitted further.
While it’s unclear whether her father’s experience with his racist scenes influenced the decision, Sydney previously revealed her own discomfort with Cassie’s frequent nudity scenes. At the time, she claimed that she had conveyed her concerns to the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, asking him to remove the unnecessary pornographic content.
“There was a moment where [my character] Cassie should be shirtless, and I’ll tell Sam, ‘I don’t think that’s necessary here.’” After pointing out that her request was honored by Levinson, the Hollywood Television Critics Association nominee revealed:
“I never felt that Sam pushed it or tried to insert nude scenes into the HBO show. When I didn’t want to do it, he didn’t make me.”
