Taliban seen patrolling streets of Kabul on rollerblades with AK-47s

The Taliban seem to be taking steps straight out of a “Barbie Movie.”

A video uploaded to YouTube and circulated on social media appears to show Taliban security forces armed with AK-47s patrolling the streets on roller skates.

Several people can be seen sliding through traffic alongside a truck, where a terrorist is manning a turret.

At other times in the 22-minute video, Taliban fighters can be seen “skitching,” or grabbing a moving truck to pull it.

The video was uploaded by YouTuber Yadullah Marvi, who describes himself online as a parkour athlete in the city, on Nov. 11.

“The first part of a military performance skating on the streets of Kabul,” Marvi wrote in the video’s description.

“In this video, the movements of our figure skaters are recorded, and the reactions of the crowd are also recorded, and this is the first part of the video. Wait for the next part!”

Throughout the video, Taliban fighters look like skilled skaters — using “t-stops” and cross skates.

At one point, a fighter can even be seen facing backwards while holding a truck.

All the Taliban fighters in the video are wearing camouflage uniforms, on which some have attached the black and white Velcro flag of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan – the official name of the government installed by the Taliban after the US departure, according to Task and Purpose. .

As they approach intersections and traffic, they can be seen speeding ahead in lane gaps to either stop traffic or force drivers to make way for them.

Almost everyone in the truck could be seen filming on their phones, including several who leaned out the window for a better view.

A skater is also seen wearing civilian-style headphones and can be seen pulling out his phone as if he’s changing songs on a playlist.

But the video also includes dramatic music playing in the background, as sirens go off to alert residents of their presence.

Khalid Zadron, Kabul police spokesman, confirmed the video was genuine and showed officers from the civil security police operating under the Ministry of Interior, he told The Telegraph.

Another Taliban security official also said he witnessed the incident.

“It’s a lot of fun: amazing balance and body strength,” he told the UK outlet.

“It may be common in other parts of the world, but for us, it’s rare to see on the streets of Kabul.”

The video appears to be part of the terrorist group’s efforts to rebrand itself.

It has also shared photos of Taliban fighters enjoying an amusement park and swinging on a swing set.

Before taking over the country, the Taliban also shared videos and pictures of themselves exercising and eating ice cream.

Neha Ansari, a Washington-based counterterrorism analyst, acknowledged that this is “a very different Taliban.”

“They are experienced fighters, very tech savvy, media savvy. They have traveled the world, they have negotiated with great powers,” he told Politico in August 2021, noting that they now have a better understanding of how to appeal to the West.

But by December 2022, the Taliban resumed public executions.

In September, the group also raided the offices of a Swiss non-profit group based in Afghanistan, detaining 18 employees – including an American – for allegedly spreading Christianity.
