Teachers’ union rep suspended for antisemitic online posts of ‘gluttons and thieves’

A Maryland teachers union official has been suspended after being accused of spreading antisemitism online, including a list of wealthy Jews he called “gluttons and thieves,” according to reports.

Angela Wolf, who also heads the English department at left-leaning Takoma Park High School in Montgomery County, wrote a series of anti-Israel online rants that eventually got her boss to send her home, the Daily Wire reported.

In December 2022, he went so far as to publish the names and alleged net worth of five wealthy locals with Jewish surnames, accusing them of being crooks.

“None of them created anything useful and useful [sic] has done a damn thing to advance the needs of the community,” Wolf wrote on Facebook.

“They are gluttons and thieves,” he said. “They amass this kind of wealth through the abuse of workers.”

Only four of those listed were actually Jewish, according to the Daily Wire.

But Wolf’s attacks have continued this year and intensified following the Oct. 7 sneak attack on Israel by Hamas terrorists and subsequent Israeli counterattacks in the Gaza Strip, the release shows.

“It’s not a war – it’s a slaughter,” he wrote on October 28. “Israel is determined to make Gaza uninhabitable.”

In another post, he included a cartoon of an Israeli tank pointing its cannon at a baby in a hospital with the caption, “Enemy in sight!”

Last month, he praised “the bus operator at Dulles who refused to transport Zionists to pro-Israel rallies.

School officials finally had enough, and suspended Wolf after writing a letter to parents.

“I am deeply saddened and disappointed by the content of this post,” wrote Takoma Park Principal Erin Martin on November 30, “and strongly condemn the views expressed as they are inconsistent with our school’s values of inclusion, respect and acceptance.”

Martin said the district is launching an investigation, but noted it is a “personal matter.”

Wolf, who heads the school’s English language development department that focuses on teaching immigrant children, sits on the board of the 14,000-member Montgomery County Education Association.

He defended posting a list of wealthy locals, saying he “didn’t know these billionaires were Jewish or that my choice of words had historical significance for the Jewish community,” the Daily Wire said.

“Criticism of these two words has turned the discussion into a false attack,” he said. “People are angry at certain teachers or politicians or the poor. I haven’t read any attacks on the 1% … who have NOT yet ‘earned their fortune.’”
