Teen, parents found dead in $5M mansion in suspected ‘domestic’ incident

A teenage girl and her parents were found dead in a $5 million Massachusetts mansion overnight in a domestic violence incident, authorities said Friday.

The bodies of Rakesh Kamal, 57, his wife Teena, 54, and their 18-year-old daughter, Ariana, were found in their Dover home — estimated to be worth $5.45 million — about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said.

The district attorney — who described the “terrible tragedy” as a “domestic violence situation” — said a handgun was found near the husband’s body.

He however refused to say whether the three family members were shot dead – and by whom.

Morrissey said he is awaiting the medical examiner’s results, which are expected late Friday, before deciding whether to refer the incident as a murder-suicide.

“Although the investigation is still in its early stages, the evidence currently available does not indicate the involvement of any outside parties, but does indicate that this was a fatal incident of domestic violence,” his office said in a statement.

“It is not believed that there is any ongoing danger to the Dover community in relation to this incident.”

The grim discovery was made after a relative stopped by to check on family members after not hearing from them in days, the district attorney said.

He added that there were no previous police reports or domestic incidents linked to the house.

“I hate to see it any time,” Morrissey said of the domestic violence incident. “I think some of the tension that people feel in relationships often comes up during the holidays.”

The home where the family members were found is valued at $5.45 million, according to local real estate records obtained by CBS Boston.

The 19,000-square-foot estate has 11 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms, according to the Zillow listing.

The slain family members were the only ones living in the mansion, the DA said, adding that the area was a “good neighborhood, a safe community.”

The daughter is a student at Middlebury College — a $64,800-a-year private liberal arts school in Vermont, Morrissey confirmed.

The district attorney said the investigation into the killing is ongoing.
