Temuera Morrison Suggests He Did Not Appear In ‘The Mandalorian’ Due To ‘Cutbacks’

Actor Temuera Morrison is slated to star as Boba Fett in “The Book of Boba Fett,” but many fans have mixed feelings about the Disney+ live-action series.

The seven-episode series was hijacked by “The Mandalorian” Din Djarin and Grogu to prepare the plot for season 3 of “The Mandalorian.” Although the finale aired earlier this month, fans were surprised that Morrison did not make an appearance and bring Boba Fett back into the story.

Turns out it wasn’t just the fans who were surprised. During a Q&A panel at the SUPANOVA Comics & Games Convention in Melbourne, Australia, Morrison hinted that she was supposed to be in “The Mandalorian” season 3, but never got the call.

During a Q&A panel at the SUPANOVA Comics & Games Convention in Melbourne, Australia, (via We Got This Covered), Temuera Morrison said, “I was supposed to be on The Mandalorian season 3 but nobody called me. I was waiting for a phone call in New Zealand, waiting and wanting to give up.”

He also reflected on how Din Djarin “took over” the show, apparently agreeing with the frustration expressed by many fans. “Well, that Mando guy stole some chapters of my book. It hurt to see him appear with some new black death swords. And the way he appeared in my Boba Book, he just destroyed everybody,” Morrison said. “I’m sure this guy… ah… ruined my performance. But I couldn’t say anything. I’m not a writer, so I have to bear it I guess.”

For now, there is no news if “The Book Of Boba Fett” will get a second season to add more Boba Fett stories. However, Morrison seemed to cast doubt on that possibility when he talked about the cuts taking place at Disney.

“I think there has been a little change. We are also under the big umbrella known as ‘Disney’ now too. So it was one of the last few conversations we had in L.A. The conversation started like, ‘Oh look we’ve got some changes. We have some reduction,’” he said. “And when you hear it on the other end of the line, it’s no good trying to negotiate any more money that’s for sure. So we’ll see what happens.”

Temuera Morrison wasn’t the only one waiting for the phone call. “Halston” star Ewan McGregor recently reprized his lead role as “Obi-Wan Kenobi” for the six-episode Disney+ series. While fans are hoping for a second season, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy seemed to cast doubt on that possibility in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“You know, I’ve always been hesitant to say, ‘No, we’re not going to do anything else with Obi-Wan Kenobi,'” Kennedy said. “Maybe what we end up doing is something that gets incorporated into some other story that we do, or eventually into a movie.”

“Who knows? But right now it’s still our self-limited series, he added. “We have no plans for expansion right now.”

Kathleen Kennedy also seems to cast doubt that the video game “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” will eventually get its own Disney+ series. While he admits that he’s seen “a lot of chatter online” and acknowledges that it “could be really interesting,” he admits, “It’s not something that’s front and center at the moment, but what’s interesting in the company that we do is everybody in all these different areas of the business, we all talk to each other.”

“That doesn’t often happen in situations like this, but because so many people at Lucasfilm are used to working together, we’re very transparent about the storytelling that’s happening — whether it’s in the streaming or film space. space, or books, animated games, whatever,” he continued. “At the end of the day, it’s going to be a kind of immersive entertainment.”

“There’s a lot we talk about just in terms of how we use technology with ILM inside the company,” Kennedy explained. “So this constant cross-pollination to determine exactly what stories move into the film space, what stories move into the TV space — you never know, because the creative process is so similar in all those different spaces.”

“So you don’t have a crystal ball,” he added. “You see what works, and then if it works, you can take from that.”
