According to the news outlet, Heather contacted some of Terry’s “doctor friends”, who were able to convince the couple to go to the hospital despite Terry’s initial reluctance.

Following a series of medical evaluations, doctors concluded that Terry had suffered a transient ischemic attack (TIA), a brief stroke-like event caused by a momentary interruption of blood supply to part of the brain, as described by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.

In the midst of the evaluation, the medical team also discovered an unexpected detail: Terry had a patent foramen ovale (PFO), a hole between the left and right chambers of the heart that allowed a blood clot to pass through, to Terry’s brain, thus triggering an episode of TIA . If PFO is not diagnosed by a doctor, it can result in a “severe stroke”. So, Terry thanked his wife for urging him to go to the hospital.
