Convicted killer Kaitlin Armstrong was reportedly pregnant when she was arrested in Costa Rica and hauled back to Texas for gunning down her love rival, according to new court filings.
The killer’s lawyer made the startling claim in documents filed earlier this month asking for a new trial – arguing Armstrong might have received a lighter sentence if jurors had known he had been expecting.
Armstrong, 35, was sentenced to 90 years in prison last month for the May 2022 shooting death of professional cyclist Anna “Mo” Wilson in a case that sent investigators on a 43-day international manhunt for the killer.
“Kaitlin has also been pregnant twice, one time during or near the time of her arrest,” said the filing obtained by DailyMail.
“Given that the sentence here is 90 years and the maximum fine, there is no question that this mitigating evidence would have resulted in a lighter sentence.”
The surprising argument did not indicate how close Armstrong might have been or whether his father might have been cyclist Colin Strickland, who had a tryst with Wilson months earlier when he and Armstrong briefly split.

The former yoga teacher shot and killed 25-year-old Wilson in a fit of jealousy after learning Wilson had gone swimming and dining with Strickland the same day.
Wilson was visiting Austin for a race, where he was among the favorites to win, when Armstrong tracked him down and shot him three times – twice in the head and once through the heart.
The documents also introduce new arguments that paint the convicted killer in a more compassionate light — but were not made during Armstrong’s two-week trial in Austin.
His attorney did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

The filing describes him as the son of an alcoholic mother, whose father abandoned him and who was the victim of sexual abuse.
“While her family struggled during her childhood, childhood friends also recalled Kaitlin being the victim of several cases of sexual violence (real or attempted),” her attorney wrote.
The alleged pregnancy raises some suspicions, however, given that Armstrong received plastic surgery while on the run in Costa Rica.

She had to undergo a $6,000 nose and eyebrow operation – both of which are not normally allowed for pregnant women.
Armstrong initially tried to avoid the required lab work that would have detected the pregnancy, but relented after her cosmetic surgeon told her it was necessary, the DailyMail reported.
The pregnancy angle could be another desperate attempt at freedom by Armstrong, who has repeatedly tried to avoid the aftermath of the gruesome murder.

Armstrong spent months “hard-working” training in his Texas prison cell and meticulously planned his spectacular escape – only to be captured minutes after the detour.
