A Texas mother has been arrested for allegedly fatally shooting her daughter’s violent boyfriend during a fight in which she yelled, “Just shoot me!”
Patricia Conlon, 49, went to the Dallas home of Joshua Troutte, 36, Sunday after her daughter admitted that she had ended their nearly two-year abusive relationship because he had become violent again, Fox 4 reported, citing police documents.
Troutte’s roommate told police she saw an armed Conlon enter the house and start an argument — during which Troutte yelled “Just shoot me!”
The roommate then heard several shots fired, with Troutte left for dead in the bathroom, the unnamed roommate told police.
Conlon later told police he had just planned to hold Troutte at gunpoint until police arrived to arrest him for hitting his daughter over the eye with the phone, the affidavit said.

He admitted to the fatal shooting, but claimed he only pulled the trigger in self-defense after Troutte grabbed his arm and pulled his hair.
However, police argued against self-defense because Conlon attempted to hold him at gunpoint and “lack of reasonableness in his actions involved the use of deadly force,” the affidavit said.
He was arrested shortly after the shooting and has been charged with murder.
Troutte has a long criminal history, the station reported, including a previous guilty plea to assault and family violence in 2018.
