‘The View’ Co-Host Sunny Hostin Felt No Shame About Plastic Surgery

“New year, new me” is the perfect term to describe ABC star Sunny Hostin as she has made the best decisions for her body image heading into 2023.

Sunny, who has struggled with body image since she was a teenager, had plastic surgery last summer, and she’s surprisingly open about it, hoping her experience will inspire many.

The American lawyer recently sat down and shared details about her cosmetic procedure; she had liposuction on her waist and chin and her breasts were reduced and lifted.

In her talk with PEOPLE Magazine, she admitted that she feels like a “better version of herself” after years of suffering from back pain and body image concerns. “It’s a health decision and a self-care decision,” she said before elaborating on her cosmetic journey to downplay the surgery.

Sunny thought she would be embarrassed by the experience after feeling as if she was getting plastic surgery like “all these crazy celebrities,” but she was wrong. The talk show’s co-host admits she has no shame and hopes her narrative will help people, especially those who feel “very self-conscious” like she does.

As a young girl growing up in New York City, the lead reporter began to feel self-conscious, perhaps due to having double-D breast size when she was 16. Her preoccupation with her body continued even after she became a mother of two. children, Gabriel, 20, and Paloma, 16, who she shares with her husband, an orthopedic surgeon, Emmanuel Hostin, 52.

Sunny couldn’t imagine her breasts getting bigger after giving birth, but they surprisingly did. And in 2016, when she joined “The View” full time, she became even more insecure.

She explains, “My waist is small, but my top is so big that I’ll wear a minimizer bra and a sports bra or a binder all the time.” Alternatively, the TV host will get an oversized dress, and her hairstylist will clip in the back so it all fits.

A big, disappointing event last April contributed to her final decision to have surgery while she was dressing for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. At that moment, she flipped on Toni Maticevski’s dress, but the bra didn’t fit, immediately causing her to burst into tears and end up having to wrap her chest in duct tape for the night.

“I sat there and didn’t eat anything,” he confessed. “I couldn’t lift my arms because my breasts would pop out.”

Also, Sunny was afraid to take pictures at the event, even with Biv DeVoe’s band Bell because she believed the pictures would capture her breasts hanging out. Embarrassed, she made an appointment directly with a New York City-based cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Ryan Neinstein and breast specialist Dr. Anna Steve.

On August 22, 2022, she underwent the procedure and then had a private nurse assist her during her two weeks of recovery, including a drainage tube to prevent blood and fluid build-up for three days. It is not a “glamorous” surgery. However, the 54-year-old journalist was up and about within three days, back to work within two weeks, and doing Pilates within two months.

Sunny proudly proclaimed that she can now “run around naked all the time” in her home, and that she feels great after going from a G cup to a C cup. What’s more, she wants her fans to know that even though many celebrities choose to keep their plastic surgery a secret , he wants to be “absolutely honest” about it all.

‘The View’ Co-Host Gets Credit From Meghan McCain For Being A ‘Great’ TV Presence

Last year, the ABC News reporter made headlines after she was praised by former “The View” host Meghan McCain who is leaving the show in August 2021.

The Blast reported that McCain avoided most of his colleagues after his exit except for New Yorkers whom he greatly respected. Speaking on the “Reality with The King” podcast, the “Dirty Sex Politics” author called Sunny “one of the biggest TV presences in all of television” and believes she could have her own show.

He also praised the mother of two for being “the most politically savvy person” on “The View,” given her level of curiosity, perhaps absent from other presenters on the show,

McCain went on to admit that Sunny was the only cast member he had a relationship with because he didn’t “demonize her” like everyone else did when he was on “The View.”
