This ‘Damning’ Russell Brand 2006 Interview Has Resurfaced Amid Allegations

Piers Morgan has looked back at the moment in 2006 when he asked Russell Brand if he was a “successful sexual predator.”

The reflection comes as Brand faces serious allegations, including rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse by four women at the height of his fame. Additionally, he was accused of grooming a 16-year-old girl, who claimed she was taken from school to her home in a car paid for by the BBC.

Piers Morgan Declares His 2006 Question To Russell Brand Was A ‘Joke’

Since the details of these allegations hit the headlines on Saturday, September 16, various historic interviews and media appearances involving the embattled Brand have resurfaced and been circulated online.

One particular interview was conducted by Morgan in 2006, in which he asked the comedian, “Are you a more successful sexual predator now that you don’t drink?” After the resurgence of the interview, the 56-year-old journalist reflected on why she asked the question on a recent episode of her talk show, “Uncensored,” stating:

“I ask for reasons I’m not entirely sure of, other than it must have been funny at the time.”

The English-language presenter explained that although the interview took place the same year that Brand allegedly had a secret relationship with the aforementioned 16-year-old girl, she was unaware of any alleged assault and “meant it as a joke.”

He went on to share the conspiracy theorist’s response to his question, in which he said, “Yes, but I hate the word ‘predator.’” The BAFTA Award nominee explained at the time:

“I like to think of myself as a channel of natural power. After all, the most natural thing in the world for people to do is f**k, right? And people want to do it, so all you have to do is throw out all the reasons why women don’t actually do it, like pride and reputation.

Elsewhere in the interview, Morgan asked if Brand’s fame translated to him “attracting more women,” to which the 48-year-old replied:

“The amount of appeal required has dwindled to almost ridiculous proportions now that I’m famous. I would devote a lot of time to seduction depending on the quality of the target, now I just go with it. Fame helps a lot in that regard.”

When Morgan declared that Brand’s words were indeed “damning”, his guest Mariella Frostrup argued that his question was just as “damning”. The host immediately agrees, admitting that it is a culture where making jokes about very serious matters is considered acceptable.

The former “Britain’s Got Talent” judge isn’t the only one who appears to be withdrawing her support for the disgraced “Despicable Me” voice star. As The Blast reports, his YouTube channel has been canceled for what the platform claims is a violation of its “responsibility policy.”

With this move, the actor’s earnings — which are said to be running into millions every year, have come to an abrupt halt. During his reign as a YouTuber, Brand has created videos highlighting his conspiracy theories about the coronavirus pandemic, the Ukraine war and climate change.

Fans Have Supported The Brand Following His Ongoing Sexual Assault Scandal

Amid the ongoing crisis, fans have rallied around Brand, with many insisting that the accusations against him are a ploy to silence him for speaking out boldly against the government. According to The Blast, a supporter stated via X:

“They are just trying to cancel it. Funny “they” know, you can not prevent the movement of people. We stand in solidarity for truth, peace and most importantly love. That’s what Russell tells us. From the heart.”

A second person shared the same sentiment, posting, “They go after people who speak out against the MSM narrative They try it with Trump, Tucker, Elon I support Russell ?.”

“I’m sure he’s done some things in his time that crossed the legal/illegal line, but was it until he was accused of it?” a third fan mused, while a fourth observed, “They all care so much about Russell Brand but not one ☝️ person in Epstein’s flight log has been caught.”

A longer reaction soon came from a netizen who believed Brand was on trial by the media. They begin, “It’s hard, it feels like an experiment by the media. The worst I think he’s actually accused of is taking a 16-year-old girl from school and going back to her place.”

Going deeper, user X explained that since “16 is the age of consent in the UK, and as long as she agrees to this, no offense has been committed.”[sic]
