Actor Alec Baldwin is again facing a new lawsuit after the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie “Rust” in October 2021.
Three crew members from the West movie set – Ross Addiego, Doran Curtin, and Reese Price – have filed a new lawsuit against the “30 Rock” cast and “Rust” producers alleging negligence.
‘Rust’ Crew Member Alleges Alec Baldwin Pulled Trigger In Deadly Shooting In New Suit

According to a lawsuit filed earlier this week, obtained by Deadline, Ross Addiego, Doran Curtin, and Reese Price all claim that they were inside the church and standing by Halyna Hutchins when the gun was fired.
The legal document states, “On October 21, 2021, Defendant Alexander R Baldwin Ill fired a Colt 45 pistol at the crew on the set of the film Rust, killing the film’s Director of Photography — Halyna Hutchins — and injuring Ross Addiego, Doran Curtin , and Reese Price, ” referred to as “Plaintiff” throughout the court papers.

“These injuries were caused by the Defendant’s failure to comply with industry safety regulations,” court documents allege. “The defendant cut corners; ignoring reports of unscripted gun releases; and continued, rushed and understaffed, to complete the film.”
The new lawsuit alleges that “on his third draw, Defendant Baldwin cocked the hammer of the revolver with the trigger pulled and fired it at Crews striking Hutchins, and injuring Plaintiff.”
‘Rust’ Crew Members Recall First Seconds After Gun Fired

Some of the lawsuits describe the aftermath of the shooting in great detail. Reese Price claimed that he “saw the flash of the muzzle of the revolver in Defendant Baldwin’s hand. He felt the physical force of the gunfire in the small space. His ears started ringing. He felt as if everything was moving in slow motion. He saw Souza scream and crawl away from Defendant Baldwin. Desperate and scared, the crew began pulling on Plaintiff Price’s shirt and exiting the church. Plaintiff Price realized the gun had been fired at him and his friends.”
Ross Addiego claimed that he saw the same flash and “felt the same disorienting sound, force, and physical trauma from the shooting. He heard Souza’s muffled screams and began to wade through the chaos. He realized that he had just witnessed Defendant Baldwin fired a revolver at him and the group where he was standing.”
Addiego reminded Hutchins and Souza both fell to the ground. Court documents go on to state that Addiego “saw a hole in the front of Souza’s sweatshirt. Assisted by another crew member and a medical officer, Plaintiff Addiego removed Souza’s shirt and rolled him up. Souza’s shoulder blade was shattered, and a bullet lodged just under his skin. Plaintiff Addiego applied pressure to Souza’s wound until emergency medical professionals arrived.”

Doran Curtin claimed that he also felt “the same sound, force, and physical trauma” from the shooting. “He saw Hutchins fall to the ground right in front of him,” court documents state. “With Hutchins at his feet, other crew members ordered Plaintiff Curtin to remove Hutchins’ headset. He bent down and removed the equipment from Hutchins’ head. He watched in shock as Hutchins grabbed his stomach.”
“Plaintiff Curtin put his hand on Hutchins’ stomach, trying to find the cause of Hutchins’ pain and figure out what was going on,” the newspaper continued. “As the commotion continued, Plaintiff Curtin was escorted out of the church. Once outside, he collapsed due to the explosion and gunshot shock.”
Crew Members Sue For Loss Of ‘Enjoyment Of Life’ Among Others

Court documents state “Plaintiffs are entitled to damages for their injuries caused by Defendants’ negligence and reckless conduct;” however, no amount of damages was specified in the lawsuit.
Instead, the filing seeks “compensatory and punitive damages, jointly and severally,” for loss of “enjoyment of life” and loss of “lost income value and current cash value of earning capacity.”
Alec Baldwin has denied pulling the trigger in several interviews given after the shooting. Last month, the 64-year-old actor pleaded not guilty to two counts of involuntary manslaughter. Hannah Gutierrez-Reed’s “Rust” shield is also claimed.
