Three UK tourists are accused of drugging and gang-raping an 18-year-old British woman at a hotel in Spain — the latest case of a third sexual assault on a young woman in a resort town on the island of Mallorca.
The three suspects looked down and covered themselves as they posed for pictures on Saturday as they were escorted by police to court in the capital, Palma, The Sun reported.
Police arrested the man, believed to be in his early 20s, at Palma Son Sant Joan Airport on Friday evening as they tried to board a flight to Manchester, England.
“The Civil Guard has arrested three young men as suspected perpetrators of the crime of sexual assault on a woman in a hotel in Calvià,” the agency’s spokesperson said in a statement.
The incident took place in Magaluf, which is part of the municipality of Calvià in Mallorca.
Two of the suspects are being investigated for allegedly raping the woman and the third for allegedly doing nothing to prevent the alleged sexual assault, officials said.
“This morning the central response unit received a warning about a possible sexual assault from a hotel in the township,” a police representative said, according to the news outlet.

“A police patrol went to the hotel and spoke to a young tourist who told them she had been raped early this morning by a man she met the night before,” the spokesman continued.
“He also said he had chemical withdrawal, as he felt completely unwell probably due to the consumption of some type of drug. He said he did not know the identity of the alleged intruders, only the nickname used by one of them on social networks,” he said.
The spokesman said the suspects left their hotel and planned to take a flight back to the UK but were stopped at the airport minutes before boarding.

Earlier this month, five French tourists and a Swiss national were arrested on suspicion of gang-raping another British woman at the same hotel, where staff reported they found her crying in desperation.
The alleged victim told authorities she met the men on August 14, went to the hotel room of one of the suspects and was then sexually assaulted by all six.
A judge found a video clip of the alleged rape on at least one suspect’s phone, officials said.

The alleged rapists were held in local jails pending investigation and were not immediately charged.
