Iconic actress Suzanne Somers has died at the age of 76 after a long battle with breast cancer.

Somers is known for her incredible roles in “Three’s Company” and “Step by Step” among others. He should have celebrated his 77th birthday on Monday, October 16.

“Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early hours of October 15th. She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years,” the statement began.

It then continued, “Suzanne is surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family. Her family has gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16. Instead, they will be celebrating her extraordinary life, and would like to thank to his millions of fans and followers who love him so much.”

According to Hay, Somers will be buried this week in a private family funeral. Later in November, a more detailed commemoration will be held.

Fans may remember that the “Step By Step” star broke the news of her breast cancer return in a heartbreaking post on July 31. Alongside a touching photo of her and her husband Alan Hamel, she wrote, “As you know, I had breast cancer two decades ago, and every now and then it comes back, and I continue to fight it. I have used the best alternative and conventional treatments to fight it. This is not new territory for me.”

Somers, who hopes to beat the disease this time continues, “I know how to wear my combat gear and I’m a fighter. Alan was always by my side every step of the way. I can’t explain how much he has done for me. If possible, we are closer than ever.”

He declared that his family had been supportive through his diagnosis and would run most of his business. Somers was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000.

Somers Underwent Six Weeks of ‘Intensive’ Physical Therapy Before Death

Amidst her battle with breast cancer, the late Somers was looking forward to celebrating her 77th birthday in style. Days before her death, she spoke to People Magazine about her plans for her big day.

The author of “Ageless: The Naked Truth About Bioidentical Hormone” revealed that she will spend her special day with her husband Hamel their children — Leslie, Stephen, and Bruce — Bruce’s wife Caroline, and their six grandchildren.

“I heard Caroline was making her famous short rib tacos and I had requested a large amount of cake. I really like cake,” he told the outlet. Hamel, who participated in the interview praised his wife’s strength and gave an update on how she is responding to treatment.

“Suzanne and I just got back from the Midwest where Suzanne had six weeks of intensive physical therapy,” revealed the doting husband. “Even after five decades together, I am still in awe of Suzanne’s amazing determination and commitment.”

To honor her cancer return and challenging year, Somers created the SUZANNE SOMERS LOVE bracelet. He called it a gift for “great friends and followers who have been so loyal and loving to me, especially since my recent health issues.”

Describing the special piece of jewelry, she told the outlet, “It’s a silver heart design on a gold satin cord and it’s a way for us to send and receive love and feel the unity of the most important human connection.”

The “Candid Camera” co-host continued, “The message on the card reminded me of a voice I heard, as clear as day, when I was in the hospital about 10 years ago. It said, ‘It’s not who you are. It’s not what you have. It’s not what you do. It’s just about who you love and who loves you. The voice is so loud and clear, it’s as if it’s coming through a speaker system.”
