Accused killer Tiffanie Lucas looked stony-faced as she appeared in court accused of shooting her two sons to death – angering relatives of the slain boys, including one who hoped to see her “killed.”
The 32-year-old man kept a serious expression throughout his appearance last Monday as he pleaded not guilty to two counts of mass murder against the 9- and 6-year-old boys.
“He looked like he didn’t have a care in the world,” one of the boy’s aunts, Bobbie Baker, told WAVE after the hearing.
“I think him sitting in prison for the rest of his life is a cake walk,” he said of Lucas’ “emotionless” expression.
In the end, the only appropriate punishment was “for him to be put to death,” the aunt said.
Lucas, of Shepherdsville, was arrested last month after a neighbor found his son – Jayden Howard, 9, and his brother Maurice Baker Jr. – covered in blood next to a gun in a bedroom in the family’s home.
The boy died from multiple gunshot wounds.

“A 9-year-old and a 6-year-old lost their lives,” said Baker, who is Maurice’s biological aunt but considers the two boys her nephews.
“They will not have the opportunity to … be what they should be,” he said.

Lucas could be eligible for the death penalty if he is found guilty of both charges, Commonwealth’s Attorney Bailey Taylor said Monday, according to WDRB. He is being held on a $2 million bond.
The family feud following the boy’s death has been compounded by a troubling dispute with the coroner’s office, Baker added.

“[Maurice] visited him, and we got Jayden’s body instead,” claimed the grieving aunt.
Jefferson County Coroner JoAnn Farmer told The Post on Tuesday that responsibility for identifying and labeling the boy’s body fell to Norton Children’s Hospital.
“The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office does not [bag or tag] these two boys,” he explained while saying that the hospital’s meeting department “handled” the family’s complaint.
Norton Children’s Hospital did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The children’s relatives also felt failed by Child Protective Services, Baker added.

Shortly after Maurice and Jayden were killed, Jayden’s older half-brother claimed that several family members tried to alert authorities of their concerns about the child over the years.
“We want them. We will welcome them with open arms. We love them so much,” Durrell Howell said at the time.

In an initial interview with investigators, Lucas claimed that his son’s death was an “accident,” Bullitt County Detective Richard Beahl said at a preliminary hearing, WDRB reported.
Lucas will return to court next year.
