Tim Allen Admits There Were ‘Santa Clause’ Plot Holes

One of the most iconic holiday movies is “The Santa Clause,” starring Tim Allen. Although the film was loved by many, fans of the film have questioned parts of the script and storyline, saying it was not all of it.

Now, Tim Allen himself is speaking out about the plot hole, agreeing with fans.

The plot hole is something fans of the film have been discussing for years. There was even an entire Reddit thread discussing Mrs. Clause, saying, “So this is the realization I have. The previous Santa must have been under the same contractual obligations, meaning that somewhere in the North Pole, he had a wife.” Okay, we follow along, but here’s the problem… We don’t see any signs of it when Tim Allen’s character gets there. What happened to him!?”

Many others imitated with their own thoughts. One user suggested, “She automatically dies when her husband dies.”

Another hilariously said, “Elves found out her husband died, they told her to GTFO.”

Now, Tim Allen himself is addressing the plot hole. On a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon,” Tim Allen talked about some of the plot holes in the iconic holiday movie, “The Santa Clause.”

“I never understood, even in the movie, why the elves, when I showed up at the North Pole, didn’t say ‘Hey, what happened to the other guy?’,” Allen began. “You know what? I just got on the sleigh with the kid and off we went. Nobody ever asked.”

He continued, “Does Mrs. Clause know the other man is dead? Did the other man die?” Even Jimmy Fallon admitted, “There are holes in the plot.”

The 69-year-old went on to explain how the plot holes in the first film were top of mind when writing the script for the new Disney+ Original Series “The Santa Clauses,” starring Allen and his daughter, Elizabeth.

In 2018, Allen appeared on “The Tonight Show” where he shared something that surprised many. “’Santa Clause’ was originally a little darker, written by two comedians. I actually shot and killed Santa, in the original movie,” Allen told Jimmy Fallon. “And he fell off the roof, because I thought he was a thief. He gave me a card and the whole movie started. And the kid said, ‘You just killed Santa.’ And I said, ‘He shouldn’t be on the roof when he’s not invited.'”

“I laughed so hard, but the head of Disney at the time, [Jeffrey Katzenberg], said, ‘Well, we can’t start a movie like that.’ I said, ‘Why not?’ He said, ‘Okay, we can’t start a Disney movie with you killing Santa Claus,'” Allen explained on The Tonight Show.

“I said, ‘I’m a comedian. Why not? That’s funny. You killed all the parents in your other films.’ not? They do so. I’m a joker!”
