Tim McGraw Warns Concertgoers About Throwing Things Ahead Of Upcoming Tour: ‘Just Not Appropriate’

As country music star Tim McGraw counts down until he kicks off his upcoming “Standing Room Only Tour,” he’s worried about the rampant act of fans throwing things at performers on stage.

McGraw voiced his concerns in a recent interview, expressing hope that his show would not include such offensive trends while sending a warning about the possibility of thrown items injuring concertgoers.

The Louisiana-born singer has a message for fans ahead of his upcoming tour, warning them of how inappropriate it is to throw things at musicians during a stage performance. In a conversation with CNN, he stated that the trend is “terrible” because he believes it can mess up concerts especially if people get hurt.

McGraw said, “I mean, you can really hurt someone, and you can miss and hit someone in the audience and hurt someone. What happens if someone gets hurt? Then it ruins the show for everyone. If someone is unable to continue the show.”

The “Standing Room Only Tour,” which will begin in March 2024, will reach more than 30 cities, and the “It’s Your Love” singer wants all participants to have a great time. He also mentioned that he was fine with “soft stuff” being thrown at him on stage, given that he was used to it.

However, the 56-year-old celebrity warned fans not to throw “anything that could hurt someone.”

He added, “I just don’t think it’s the right thing to do. Everyone’s there to have fun, and there’s no need for any of that – Hopefully, it doesn’t happen, but I’ll try to stay calm if it does.”

In addition to McGraw’s highly anticipated tour, he will debut his 17th studio album in August, the same month his tour tickets go on sale. Explaining what kind of music his fans should expect from the unreleased artwork, he shared. “I want the music on this album to reflect life in general and be life-affirming and positive.”

The “Just to See You Smile” vocalist continued, “It was all formulated in the moment [the pandemic]. What we go through and then when we come out of it and put our feet back under us. “

He went on to state that he wanted his music to reflect “living a good life and being the best person you can be and knowing we all make mistakes, but you wake up the next day and try to be a better person.”

McGraw’s uneasiness about concertgoers throwing things at musicians on stage is justified, given that at least 14 incidents of performers having objects thrown at them have been reported in the past 12 months.

The latest episode involved famous rapper Cardi B getting hit with a drink during her performance at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 29. This prompted him to throw his microphone at the fan.

A few weeks earlier, a concertgoer threw an unknown object at pop icon Harry Styles, hitting him in the eye during his performance in Vienna.

Some cases have gotten worse, leaving the musician hospitalized, such as in June after a cell phone hit Bebe Rexha near the eye during a New York concert. Other celebrities targeted over the past few months include Drake, Pink, Kid Cudi, Steve Lacy, Lil Nas X, Ava Max, Kelsea Ballerini and Lady Gaga.

Although McGraw did not want to be among the list of artists who were hit by objects thrown by the audience during a stage performance, he was one of many known to have fallen off the stage. Last year, the singer-songwriter was filmed falling off the stage while performing “I Like It, I Love It” at Arizona’s Boots In The Park concert series.

It all started when he walked to the side of the stage, squatted down, and reached out to cheer the guitarist on in the middle of a solo. Unfortunately, he lost his balance while trying to get back on his feet.

As seen in the footage, the “Tomorrowland” actor tripped and stumbled backwards towards the audience, but he caught himself in time and landed safely on the lawn, thanks to his efficient security guard.

After landing, he laughed off the incident before acknowledging the concerned crowd behind the barricade.
