Presidential candidate Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) was surprised by President Biden’s strange remarks during a whirlwind press conference in Hanoi, Vietnam over the weekend where the 80-year-old Biden told reporters “I’m going to sleep.”
“Well TMI – too much information number one. Number two, the synapses aren’t firing as fast as we need them to fire,” Scott said on Fox News Monday, shaking his head.
Biden’s revealing quip about taking a nap came in response to a question about why he hasn’t spoken to Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
“I’m telling you, I don’t know about you, but I’m going to sleep,” Biden joked at the time.
Scott was not amused at the snoozefest.
“What we saw there was just an embarrassment to the district,” Scott added. “I liken it again to moments where we see whether it stumbles … we need a president who is willing to lead.”

Biden’s presser came after a multi-day Group of 20 summit in New Delhi, India where he took advantage of the absence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Xi.
The president answered a handful of questions during an international press event and released some unique one-liners.
“The Indian looked at John Wayne and pointed at the Union soldier and said, ‘He’s a lying, dog-faced horse soldier!'” Biden responded at one point to a question about climate change.
“Well, there are a lot of lying, dog-faced horse soldiers out there about global warming,” he added.
Conservative critics blasted Biden over the spectacle.
Scott insisted that Biden’s “incompetence” had fueled his “neglect of duty”, and said it was time for new, strong new leadership.
“What we see on display time and time again is a president who appears to be fumbling the ball too close to the goal line,” Scott added.
Biden’s presser appeared to be cut short abruptly by an aide who interrupted and announced it was over as the president spoke mid-sentence.

Other Republicans hit Biden over the ordeal as well.
“Biden is compromised, mentally retarded, and too incompetent to run America,” said Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) in a statement.
Mills also fired up Biden for stressing that his G20 visit was not part of an effort to contain China.
“He made a lot of comments about wanting China to have a strong economy, not advocating any removal of American dependence, and building railroads overseas to advance other countries economically,” added Mills.
Biden’s stop in Vietnam underscored his administration’s view that Hanoi is becoming an increasingly valuable US ally in Asia amid heightened tensions with China.
On Monday, Biden arrived in Alaska where he celebrated the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Scott polled a distant seventh nationally among the 2024 GOP field in the latest RealClearPolitics polling aggregate.
Former President Donald Trump is far ahead on the Republican side, while Biden has a major stake in becoming the standard bearer of the Democratic party.
