The Tarantino reality TV couple’s accountant who played a role in their tax evasion was convicted in June of running a scheme that involved defrauding banks and the IRS by taking out loans and then avoiding creditors.
“Why did Tarantino conspire with the Chrisleys to defraud the IRS?” was a question asked by Assistant US Attorney Annalize Peters during Monday’s hearing. He stated that it’s possible that Tarantino got caught up in something that went over his head.
Peters also pointed out that Tarantino was only paid about 40K for his work which shows that it was not a great reward for the amount of time he just received in prison. He described Todd as a “charismatic criminal” suggesting that this may be why Tarantino was so eager to help the pair.

The accountant was apparently lucky because Peters asked for 41 months in prison which is still on the lower end of the sentence but more than the 36 months he ended up with. Since Tarantino was not the “mastermind” of the money scam, his lawyer pleaded for leniency and accepted it.
Daniel Griffin, Tarantino’s lawyer asked for 18 months in prison as the older man pointed out that letters from the community came pouring in to rally with him and also stated that he had donated to many charities and done other good deeds.
All this to say is out of character for an accountant who has had a clean career thus far. Tarantino’s lawyer also shared with the court that he is sick he has ongoing health problems that putting him in jail will not help. Also, in May, Tarantino will undergo surgery on his hip. He was clearly in no shape to enter prison.

The couple went on to say Todd’s lawyer Bruce Morris, who asked for a sentence less than the maximum of 30 years because Todd’s mother, Nanny Faye, was weak. Todd is also looking for blessings for his house staff and the employees who work on the show.
Prosecutors are allegedly asking for at least 17 years in prison for the couple who rose to fame in 2013 on their reality show, The Chrisleys. The couple were accused of manipulating their financial records to appear wealthier than they really were in order to qualify for larger loans.
As viewers of the show, we were constantly told that Todd worked his way up from nothing by investing in real estate and taking it from there. For years fans have always speculated how much money they were worth but never considered that they were scams.
Stay tuned for Todd and Julie’s updates!
