Tom Brady Says 2022 Taught Him Personal Lessons He Doesn’t ‘Care To Share’

Things haven’t been easy for NFL quarterback Tom Brady on or off the field this season.

Not only have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers struggled to win this season, but the quarterback also recently went through a divorce with Brazilian fashion model Gisele Bündchen. The two have been married for 13 years.

The NFL quarterback recently opened up about the “mental, emotional and physical” challenges he’ll have to overcome in 2022.

“A lot of them are very personal that I really don’t care to share, I really don’t,” he said during Monday’s episode of the SiriusXM podcast Let’s Go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray.

“We all have a physical, mental, emotional aspect to us” that is “challenged” every year he noted before saying, “Some years you are challenged a little bit more physically and you have to overcome adversity physically.”

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers just suffered their eighth loss of the season, which is not something NFL fans are used to seeing.

“It’s hard to show up every day to the media” Brady admitted when his team lost, “It’s not a lot of fun.”

Brady added that he now has “more empathy for the guy who” was able to stay positive during a tough season like this for him. “It’s something I didn’t have to deal with before,” he explained. “It’s life, you don’t deserve to win. No one guarantees tomorrow.”

The 45-year-old continued by saying, “I look at it like, no, what did I learn? What have I learned from putting in the same amount of energy in recent years and not winning? What did that teach me? You know, why do we have to feel like we deserve to win all the time? Nope. That’s not what life is about.”

One of the lessons Brady learned this year is to take each day as a new opportunity and see the positives. “The sun rose today. We need to do something about it. We woke up, we had a chance,” he said. “This is not the time to feel sorry for yourself.”

Brady and Bündchen Divorced

During the NFL season, news broke that Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen were getting divorced. Speculation that the two were on rocky waters began when Tom Brady unexpectedly took 11 days off from training camp in August for “personal reasons.”

After Brady returned to training camp from his 11-day absence, he released a statement saying, “Everyone has different situations that they face, and we all have unique challenges in our lives. I’m 45 years old, man.”

While the rumor suggested Brady’s decision to retire and return to the NFL was to blame, another source, close to the Tampa Bay Bucs quarterback and Brazilian fashion model, said that was not the case and that the allegations were “sexist.”

“We reached this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always make sure they receive the love and attention they deserve,” Brady continued to write on his Instagram Story, “We came to this decision to end our marriage after much consideration. Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult, as is the experience of many people who go through the same thing every day around the world. However, we only wish the best for each other as we move forward with whatever new chapter in our lives is yet to be written,” he continued.

Brady concluded with, “And we appreciate your privacy and respect as we navigate what’s going to happen in the days and weeks ahead. Thank you.”
