US Senator Tom Cotton has demanded a federal investigation and possible criminal charges against a US news outlet accused of working with a photographer embedded with Hamas before the terrorist group’s October 7 attack on Israel.
The Arkansas Republican accused The New York Times, CNN, Associated Press, and Reuters of having advance knowledge of the massacre, which left about 1,400 Israelis dead.
The story became public spectacle this week after the nonprofit Honest Reporting exposed several Gaza-based photojournalists who appeared to have come along for the ride during the terrorist attack.
Cotton wrote to the US Department of Justice on Friday, warning, “Providing support or material assistance, including funding, to terrorist organizations such as Hamas is a federal crime.”
All four media groups insisted they had no warning of the terrorist attack.

Honest Reporting said Friday it received the news organization’s denial.
“We raise questions, we don’t provide answers,” said the group’s executive director, Gil Hoffman. “I still think that the questions are valid and that the answers are sufficient from the media organizations themselves.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized the news channel for collaborating with the Hamas group calling them “complicit in crimes against humanity.”

CNN and the Associated Press both said they would no longer work with freelance photographer Hassan Eslaiah – who was pictured receiving a smiling kiss on the cheek from Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, now known as “Butcher Khan Younis.”
“No employee of The Times was embedded with Hamas, or had prior knowledge of the attack, or played any role in the brutal massacre that day,” the Times said, accusing Cotton of spreading “misinformation”
A representative for the Justice Department did not respond to a request for comment from The Post.
