Amid the fallout from the scandalous relationship between Sandoval and Raquel Leviss, Schwartz revealed that he chose to move forward independently, distancing himself from their once-solid friendship.
“It seems like every time I try to weigh in or talk about it, ramble on about it, go on, I definitely sound like I’m justifying it or making excuses for it, and I’m not. There is no reason for that,” shared the owner of the bar, per People magazine.
Schwartz acknowledged that any perspective Sandoval might have shared on the situation was rendered irrelevant by the way he handled the affair. “After all, that’s his life. That is his life,” he continued. “I don’t have an affair. I’m not him. It’s so weird that I’m really stuck on this. It took on almost its own life.”
He added that he would “stay away from it permanently.”

The co-owner of the TomTom bar expressed his disappointment, saying, “He made a big mess. And then you know, he handed it to us to clean up back at the business And it’s hard for me not to be mad at him.”
Furthermore, Schwartz believed that Sandoval had taken advantage of their close bond “because, you know, I loved Tom so much and I took everything he told me to heart” about Madix. However, Madix vehemently denied Sandoval’s version of their breakup, leaving Schwartz feeling exploited by his friend.

After it was revealed that Madix had found out about the affair and ended her relationship with Sandoval, the Schwartz & Sandy’s Lounge co-founder made headlines by pleading for empathy for her best friend.
In an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” With Andy Cohen in April, Schwartz sparked controversy when he expressed his love and support for Madix while also vowing not to leave Sandoval. “First of all, Ariana, love you. I know you don’t love me now, but I still love you. And also, Tom, I know the whole world hates you. But I will not leave you, old friend. I will never leave you.”
“He knows he’s a monster for what he does. If you see him, maybe give him a hug. Even if he doesn’t deserve it, give him a hug. He’s bad,” he added.
Like Schwartz, Lisa Vanderpump also drew criticism from fans for seemingly taking Sandoval for granted and not scolding him like the rest of the cast.
