Tony Bennett’s wife, Susan Benedetto, has paid tribute to her late husband.
Bennett’s death was announced Friday after a years-long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Now, the seasoned Arts teacher has shared a eulogy for her late husband on Instagram, in which she thanked her fans, friends and colleagues for their support of her music over the years.

Benedetto took to Instagram on Friday to express his gratitude to Bennett’s supporters who stuck by him in the years leading up to his death.
“Thank you to all of Tony’s fans, friends and colleagues who celebrated his life and humanity and shared their love for him and his musical legacy,” read the statement, shared with the singer’s son Danny.
The statement continued, “From his first show as a crooner in Queens to his final show in 2021 at Radio City Music Hall, Tony is happy to be performing the songs he loves and making the crowd happy.”
Benedetto and Danny also insist that fans can find solace in Bennett’s “legacy” of more than 70 albums, which includes such timeless classics as “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” “Duets: An American Classic” and “Cheek to Cheek.” ,” which he created with Lady Gaga.

Accompanying the tribute is a photo of Bennett performing at Radio City Music Hall for his 95th birthday in 2021. In the photo, the “Blue Velvet” songwriter is seen wearing a black suit with his arms raised as he smiles at the cheering crowd.

Benedetto’s statement came after a representative for her late husband, Bennett, announced the 19-time Grammy award winner’s death on Friday after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
“Tony Bennett, born Anthony Dominick Benedetto in Astoria, Queens on August 3, 1926, died in his hometown of New York City at the age of 96 earlier today,” read a statement per People.
It continued, “The beloved singer, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2016, is survived by his wife, Susan Benedetto, his two sons, Danny and Dae Bennett, his daughters, Johanna Bennett and Antonia Bennett and 9 grandchildren.”
The late singer’s team also revealed on their Instagram page that Bennett was still singing in his final days. “He was still singing the other day at his piano, and his last song was ‘Because of You,’ his first #1 hit,” read the post.

Bennett and Benedetto first connected in the late 1980s after one of the singer’s concerts. She became Tony Bennett’s third and final wife, and their relationship lasted more than two decades before they exchanged vows in a private ceremony in 2007.
In later years, when Bennett was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Benedetto took on the role of his primary caregiver. She provides dedicated and compassionate support to him with help from their team of doctors and her eldest son, Danny.
He reflected on the disease’s impact on the late singer’s life in a 2021 interview with AARP, revealed at the time that Bennett “wasn’t always sure where he was or what was going on around him.” “It’s not fun arguing with someone who doesn’t understand you,” Benedetto added. “But I feel bad talking about it because we are luckier than a lot of people who have this diagnosis.”
