A judge initially ruled that because of the motion for a new trial, Tory’s sentence would be temporarily dismissed. In court today, the defense stated that they have new issues to raise, hence, another court date is scheduled for next week.
The rapper, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was convicted in December of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, grossly negligent discharge of a firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.
The charge comes with a good term behind bars with a maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months to be exact. Also, Tory is an aboriginal Canadian which means deportation is on the table. The sentencing is due in January.
