Travis Scott can breathe a sigh of relief.
Rapper “Sicko Mode” is approaching the one-year anniversary of the deadly Astroworld Festival.
On November 5, 2021, Travis held the highly anticipated “Astroworld Festival” in Houston, TX at NRG Park.

The performance turned deadly when a huge sea of fans surged towards the main stage and crushed and suffocated the 10 concertgoers.
One family of Astroworld victims has gotten some sense of closure and justice.
Axel Acosta’s family reached an out-of-court settlement with Travis after suing the rapper, Live Nation and others.
This is the first known settlement of all lawsuits filed against Travis, Live Nation, Drake and more.
Acosta’s family attorney, Tony Buzbee, said the terms of the settlement are confidential, but his family wants people to remember him as a “beloved son, brother and student.”

The family added that he was “kind and loving” and “much missed.”
The 21-year-old died from injuries he sustained during the fatal concert.
While this marks the first lawsuit settled, Travis still has a big legal battle ahead of him.
As previously mentioned, 10 people died at Astroworld Fest and over 300 people were injured.
Following the fatal tragedy, Travis was hit with multiple multi-million dollar lawsuits, and one even exceeded a billion dollars!

In March, the father of two announced an initiative he was taking part in to spread love and hope.
Travis Launches HEAL Project Following Astroworld Tragedy
In an Instagram post, the “SICKO MODE” rapper launched the HEAL project, “a multi-level initiative dedicated to addressing the challenges facing today’s youth, especially those from at-risk communities.”
Project HEAL partnered with the Cactus Jack Foundation to bring together initiatives focused on social issues such as “academic scholarships, free mental health resources, a creative design center and the first technology-driven solutions for event safety.”
As explained in the post, the four main pillars of the initiative are:
- Waymon Webster HBCU Scholarship Fund
- CACT.US Youth Design Center Expansion
- Mental Health Resources
- US Conference of Mayors and Technology Driven Solutions for Event Security.
Alongside a slideshow detailing information about Project Heal, Scott wrote a heartfelt message that began, “Over the past few months I have taken time and space to grieve, reflect and do my part to heal my community. Most importantly, I want to use my resources and platform to move forward toward actionable change.”

The Houston, Texas rapper declared that pursuing actionable change would be a “journey of a lifetime” for him and his family. Scott, who was blamed for his silence and avoidance of accountability during the Astroworld Festival, later called on companies and institutions to remain in the shadows.
However, he shared his plan to be different and always step up when needed as “a leader in my community.” Scott continued,
My team and I created Project HEAL to take much-needed action toward supporting real solutions that make all space events the safest possible. I will always respect the victims of the Astroworld tragedy who remain in my heart forever.
Concluding his remarks, Scott noted that creating opportunities for youth has always been a cause dear to him. He described Project HEAL as “a catalyst for real change.”
