Former president Donald Trump arrived in New York City Sunday night ahead of his court date the next morning in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ $250 million civil fraud case against him and his company.
Trump was photographed walking into Trump Tower — a property he could be forced to give up depending on the outcome of the trial — in Midtown around 8pm after campaigning for his 2024 presidential bid in Iowa earlier in the day.
“I will go to Court tomorrow morning to fight for my name and reputation against the corrupt and racist Attorney General, Letitia James, who campaigned to “get Trump,” and the Trump Hating Judge who is unfair, unhinged and brutal in his actions. FOLLOW me,” he wrote on the social media platform Truth Social shortly before midnight.
The hearing, presided over by Judge Arthur Engoron, is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with opening statements from both sides — the James team and lawyers for Trump, the Trump Organization and co-defendants including the former president’s son and longtime confidant.

Trump and his son and former lawyer Michael Cohen are all listed as potential witnesses in the non-jury trial.
However, the former president and his close associates are not expected to testify for several weeks in the trial, which is expected to last about three months.
Still, his expected appearance in court Monday is unusual for the 45th president, who faces several criminal and civil investigations.

He did not appear in court when his company was convicted of tax fraud last year, nor did he show his face during a trial earlier this year in which a jury found him responsible for the sexual assault of writer E. Jean Carroll.
James has alleged that Trump and his companies repeatedly lied and overstated his assets in financial statements in order to secure large loans and business deals.
He accused Trump of exaggerating his $3.6 billion fortune in the latest court filing.

Trump’s place to rest his head Sunday night may also be on the chopping block. He reportedly claimed his Trump Tower penthouse, which spans three floors and features gold-plated figures, is nearly three times its actual size and worth $327 million.
No apartment in New York City has ever sold for close to that, James said.
Engoron has already ruled that Trump ran a fraudulent scheme for years by lying on company documents by inflating the value of its assets, the main claim of the lawsuit before the trial began.
The decision, on Tuesday, also revoked Trump’s business license in the Big Apple and could force Trump to surrender his NYC-based properties including Trump Tower.
The GOP candidate has twice called the sentence a “corporate death sentence” and denied any wrongdoing. He claimed his financial statements had a disclaimer that the financial statements were unreliable, giving him reasons for any possible errors.
Engoron will rule on the six remaining claims in James’ lawsuit after the trial.
James’ suit is one of four separate cases Trump has sued — in four separate states, New York, Florida, Washington DC and Georgia.
He was charged in a “hush money” case in the Big Apple, he was charged with mishandling sensitive national security documents in Florida and he was accused of interfering with the 2020 election results in cases in Georgia and DC.
