Trump enjoys $7M bonanza off mug shot, Fulton County arrest

The shooting and mugging of former President Donald Trump at the Fulton County Jail helped fuel a $7.1 million fundraising bonanza, sources confirmed to The Post.

The Trump campaign wasted no time in taking advantage of the unprecedented mug shot featuring the former president scowling at the camera. It sells merchandise and insists that it “won’t give up” as the photo quickly goes viral.

Merchandise emblazoned with his historic mug shot includes shirts, bumper stickers and more priced between $12 and $34.

On Friday alone, the campaign earned $4.18 million, marking its most profitable day to date. Politico was the first to report on the record breaking.

Trump also made his long-awaited return from exile to X, formerly known as Twitter, posting the historic image to help turbo-charge his appeal to voters as a martyr.

Trump was booked into the notoriously filthy and vermin-infested Rice Street Fulton County Jail on Thursday.

That comes after he was charged with 13 counts by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis for allegedly tampering with Georgia’s 2020 election earlier this month.

He has vehemently denied wrongdoing and denounced the test as “election interference.”

Trump described the highly publicized reservation as a “terrible experience” during an interview with Newsmax last Thursday.

“I came in, I was treated very well but that’s the way it is,” Trump said. “I took a cup shot, I never heard the word cup shot, they didn’t teach me that at the Wharton School of Finance.”

This is not the first time Trump has successfully turned his legal problems into campaign gold.

Following its first indictment, which came out of Manhattan over alleged hush money payments, the campaign touted a $5 million haul in the first 48 hours.

Additionally, the escalating legal troubles against the former president appear to be strengthening his position in the 2024 GOP primary.

Trump now has a 41-point lead in the primary, up from about 15 points before his first indictment, according to the latest RealClearPolitics aggregate.

In total, he faces 91 charges, including a 34-count indictment from Manhattan, a 40-count indictment for allegedly hiding classified documents, and four counts for alleged subversiveness of the 2020 election.

He has pleaded not guilty in the first three cases and pleaded not guilty in the Fulton County matter.

Trump is the first current or former US president to be hit with criminal charges, although Ulysses S. Grant was briefly arrested for speeding in his horse and buggy.

Many voters seem uneasy at the prospect of his various legal loopholes ahead of the election.

About 61% of voters want the 2020 federal election subversive case to happen before the 2024 election and 62% want the dossier case to happen before then, according to a recent Politico Magazine/Ipsos poll.
