Trump fires off first tweet in over 2 years since Jan. 6 Capitol riot, complete with his mugshot: ‘Never surrender!’

Former President Donald Trump distributed his own mug shots Thursday night in his first post to X, formerly known as Twitter, since two days after the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots.

Along with the booking photo, taken hours earlier in an Atlanta jail, Trump, 77, included a link to his 2024 presidential campaign website.

Under the mug shot, read “Election interference,” and “Never give up!”

Despite the slogan, Trump actually turned himself in to authorities at the Fulton County Jail, where he was charged on charges related to his attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia.

He made history by becoming the first US president to have his mug shot.

“Today, at the notoriously violent jail in Fulton County, Georgia, I was ARRESTED for committing no CRIME,” Trump wrote on the main screen of the campaign’s website.

“The American people know what happened. What happened was defamation of justice and ELECTION DISRUPTION. The Left wants to scare YOU into not voting for a political outsider who puts the American people first.

“But today, I enter the lion’s den with one simple message on behalf of our entire movement: I WILL NOT GIVE UP ON OUR MISSION TO SAVE AMERICA.”

The tweet was the first time since Trump posted to the social network since Jan. 8, 2021 — when he told his followers he would not be attending Joe Biden’s inauguration.

He was subsequently banned from the platform, but reinstated on November 19 — though his account remained inactive as of Thursday.

Trump surrendered following his Aug. 14 grand jury indictment on charges including racketeering, conspiracy, making false statements and soliciting public officials to violate their oath of office.

The 41-count indictment also charges 18 other Trump associates and supporters, including lawyers Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis and Kenneth Chesebro – all of whom turned themselves in this week for booking.

Trump was released on $200,000 bond and agreed to an order limiting his ability to post on social media about witnesses or co-defendants in the case.

The Georgia indictment is the fourth brought against the 45th president so far this year, following federal cases over his efforts to overturn the 2020 election in Washington, DC, and his alleged mishandling of classified documents in South Florida.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg also sued Trump for allegedly falsifying business records to hide “hush money” payments to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election to cover up an alleged decade-old affair.

Trump has routinely mocked the mounting cases against him, calling each charge earlier this month a “really cool badge of honor.”

He has repeatedly accused “crooked Joe Biden” and other Democrats of weaponizing their legal power to thwart Trump’s chances of winning the presidency.
