Trump to be booked in overcrowded, violent and insect-ridden Georgia jail: ‘It’s disgusting. It’s dirty. It’s dangerous’

Donald Trump will leave his luxurious gold-plated Boeing 757 and enter one of the Peach State’s most notorious correctional complexes on Thursday night.

Trump and most of his 18 co-defendants accused of illegally trying to overturn the results of Georgia’s 2020 election have been ordered to the Fulton County Jail, which faces a Justice Department civil rights investigation and is said to have been plagued by overcrowding, insect infestation, and violence.

“It’s disgusting. It’s dirty. It’s dangerous. There are several examples that have happened in the past, one of the most famous is when there was an ex-sheriff in charge, they videotaped rats,” former Georgia prosecutor Chris Timmons told ABC Thursday news.

During his foray into prison, Trump, a known germaphobe, was expected to be kept away from the dirtier parts of the facility.

Instead, he will be taken down to the administrative area, where he is expected to have his photograph and fingerprints taken.

But if Trump is convicted of any of the 13 charges against him, he could see the inside of the so-called rotten area.

The prison on Rice Street, near the Georgia Tech campus northwest of downtown Atlanta, was built in 1985 and houses about 3,000 inmates.

Earlier this year, authorities reached a $4 million settlement with the family of LaShawn Thompson, 35, who died in prison last year after being “eaten alive by bed bugs,” according to his attorney.

Thompson’s body was found on September 13, 2022, covered in insects in a damaged and unsanitary cell.

Outrage over prison conditions helped spark a DOJ investigation into living conditions, violence on the premises, potential discrimination against individuals with disabilities, health care access and more.

“I wouldn’t want the situation at the Fulton County jail to be my worst enemy,” Anthony Michael Kreis, a law professor at Georgia State University, wrote on August 12 on X, formerly Twitter.

I wouldn’t want the situation at the Fulton County jail to be my worst enemy. If you think that making jokes about prisons in Atlanta is all well and good because Donald Trump is their backbone, you might want to stop and educate yourself on the inhumane ways people have died there.

“If you think making jokes about prisons in Atlanta is all well and good because Donald Trump is their backbone, you might want to stop and inform yourself about the inhumane ways people have died there,” he added.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who announced the 41-count indictment on Aug. 14, gave the defendants until noon Friday to voluntarily surrender.

Eleven of those charged turned themselves in on Thursday afternoon, with 10 released on bond.

After his last hearing, in Washington, DC, Trump denounced what he called “filth and corruption” in the nation’s capital.

Heading into Thursday’s booking, he had the same warm outlook in Atlanta.

“Why are there so many MURDERS in Atlanta? Why are there so many Violent Crimes? People are afraid to go out to buy a loaf of bread!” Trump complains about Social Truth.

“One big reason is that failed District Attorney Fani Willis, who campaigned and raised funds to ‘get Trump’ (just like everyone else!), has no Time, Money or Interest to go after real criminals, even REALLY Violent ones, that destroyed Atlanta, and its once beautiful culture and way of life. It’s another SAD DAY IN AMERICA!”

Trump faces four impeachments and a total of 91 criminal charges.

The 77-year-old has denied wrongdoing across the board and remains the Republican presidential nominee.
