Tyra Banks Confirms She Is Quitting ‘Dancing With the Stars’

“America’s Next Top Model” star Tyra Banks has hosted “Dancing with the Stars” for the past few seasons after replacing Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews.

However, it seems she traded in her dancing shoes because she wanted to focus on her business.

Tyra Banks confirms with TMZ that he will be leaving his hosting gig on “Dancing With the Stars” after three seasons.

“I think it’s time for me to focus on my business and entrepreneurship, and also produce more TV — but behind the scenes,” Banks said. “I think it’s time to graduate from the dance floor to the stock market floor. … from the ballroom to the meeting room!”

When asked to clarify if that meant she was no longer hosting the Disney+ reality competition show, she responded with “Don’t you think it’s about time? Yes, I think it’s about time.”

“I am an entrepreneur at heart. … I think my heart, my soul, is involved in my business, it’s also to produce new TV. … But, I really want to focus on my business, and you can’t do that to host a show,” he continued.

This news came just a few months later Sun reported that “Dancing With the Stars” producers are looking to replace Tyra Banks as host because they feel “[she] have a warm-up fight for the team, the contestants and certainly the audience.”

Tyra Banks first joined “Dancing With the Stars” during its 29th season, which took place in 2020. She replaced both Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews.

“I’ve been a fan of DWTS since the beginning… Fun mixed with raw emotion, seeing celebrities push past their comfort zones, sizzling dance performances… it always takes me back to my days to turn it up 10 notches on the catwalk,” Banks said in a statement on that time. He is also an executive producer on the show.

For the past few seasons, fans of the reality competition show have been unhappy with Tyra Banks’ hosting style, so when the show announced Alfonso Ribeiro (“The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”) would be joining Banks as a co-host, they were relieved. However, Banks still gets plenty of air time, and fans aren’t happy with his constant mistakes this past season.

One of the most recent missteps occurred during the October 3, 2022 episode, when the host gave a shout-out to Charli D’Amelio’s friend who supported her and sat in the audience — including D’Amelio’s boyfriend, musician Landon Barker.

Barker, 19, is the son of Blink-182 drummer and Kourtney Kardashian’s husband, Travis Barker. But, when Banks introduced Barker, she called him “Logan” by accident. “Charli’s friends Kourtney Kardashian, Travis Barker and Logan Barker are here,” Banks said. “I know you are very proud now.”

Fans were quick to comment on Banks’ mistake, taking to social media to call her out. So, during the following week’s episode, Banks referred the name mistake to D’Amelio after her dance on Disney+ Night — even though, again, she made the mistake.

“I’m calling your boyfriend Landon Barker and his name is Logan,” Banks said during the live show. But then, D’Amelio corrected him, saying that he ruined Barker’s name again. “Well, I’m just saying it backwards again,” Banks added. “What am I doing wrong with this? Why can’t I do it right? They said in my ear last week, I got it wrong. Now I read it and I got it wrong.”

At this time, it is unclear who will replace Tyra Banks as host for the next season of “Dancing With the Stars.”
