“Dancing with the Stars” host Alfonso Ribeiro has spoken about Tyra Banks’ reaction to being replaced by Alfonso for Season 32 of the ABC competition series.

“He was so happy for me, and he decided to go,” Alfonso, 51, told Us Weekly. “So, he’s very happy that I’m the one who, sort of, has been moved into his slot.”

He also stated that he was “made for this role”.

Former pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy also spoke to The Blast exclusively, saying something similar in regards to Ribeiro taking over. Chmerkovskiy said he “felt like I had to move on” from the show because it was “going through some changes and some transformations”.

“Today, the show is like a full circle, and back to the format I love more,” he told The Blast. “A component like Alfonso [Ribeiro] took over Tom Bergeron’s role first. It was a huge moment in the development of the show.”
