Pro-Palestinian students at UCLA were captured on video hitting a piñata bearing an image of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — with chants of “Beat the f–king Jew!”
A group of students gathered around the statue on Wednesday to express their anger at Israel’s retaliation in Gaza after Hamas’ attack on the Jewish state on October 7, according to a clip aired on X.
Many protesters were seen wearing keffiyeh scarves over their heads and faces as they took turns hitting spinning piñatas amid loud chants.
“Beat the Jew!” a woman screams into a bullhorn as the crowd chants, “Free, free Palestine!”
Finally, a man grabs a piñata, punches it and knocks it over, to loud cheers.
“I was horrified. This is @ucla today. This is untenable. They will start by punching piñatas and end by punching Jews,” user X @AYM_Higher wrote alongside the clip.

The incident occurred at a rally organized by Students for Justice in Palestine, which gathered on campus to demand the US “end funding to Israel.”
They were joined by the UCLA chapter of the UC Divest Coalition, according to the Daily Bruin, which reported that the destroyed piñata also featured a photo of President Biden.
Demonstrators chanted “Israel, Israel, you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide!” and “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

A SJP representative said he felt the actions of the Israel Defense Forces in the Gaza Strip were tantamount to genocide.
“The violence and the occupation and the killing of people in Gaza has been a fight, non-stop,” the student, identified as Mohammad, told the school paper.
Rayane Koubaa, a Tunisian sophomore, said she attended the event to stand in solidarity with Palestinian students.
“Students are forming a world view now,” he said. “This is a place for education and knowledge. If we don’t take advantage of that and show support and just rally and voice our opinions, no one will.”
