Meet Robert Hoobler aka Uncle Bob, the Cop Who Saved Lil Wayne’s Life
If you know Lil Wayne then you know his story like how he shot himself in the chest with a 9 MM pistol in 1994. He was 12 years old at the time. But the police arrived and sent him to the hospital. It was Robert Hoobler aka Uncle Bob who insisted on taking Wayne to the hospital which saved his life.
Sadly, Uncle Bob passed away on July 24 at the age of 65 and Wayne took to his Instagram to pay his respects. With a picture of Uncle Bob, Wayne posted, “Everything happens for a reason. I almost died when I met you in this place. U refuse to let me die. Everything that doesn’t happen, doesn’t happen for a reason. The reason is you and faith. RIP Uncle Bob. Aunt Kathie has been waiting for you. I will love & miss you both and live for all of us”.
TMZ reports that Bob’s family said that he was found dead at his home. The former New Orleans officer was bipedal, and his fellow cops always spoke fondly of Bob. Wayne previously thought Uncle Bob had passed — he rapped about him in his 2015 song, “London Roads” — but he’s still alive, in touch with Weezy … and they’re rekindling their friendship.
As the story goes, Wayne managed to make a 911 call and rushed to the front door to wait for help. Hoobler heard a police dispatcher say there was a young man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound who needed help and he rushed to the scene while on his way to do off-duty security work.
The policeman forced his way in the door and, instead of waiting for an ambulance, rushed Carter to the hospital, saving his life.
In August 2021, Uncle Bob spoke to TMZ and revealed that Wayne told him personally that he would support him for the rest of his life if he needed anything. Bob said that he met Wayne in 2019 when he did a radio show in his hometown of New Orleans and said Wayne offered to help him with any financial support he might need.
Robert Hoobler said that Wayne had heard rumors that he had died and so the rapper was willing to pay for his funeral.

But in 2012, Robert was accused of official misconduct for using his Taser on an arrested suspect. He was charged with second-degree battery or simple battery on Marrero resident Leron Anderson, who was arrested by deputies on suspicion of violating a protective order.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office alleges Hoobler deployed the Taser at least three times during Anderson’s Nov. 1 arrest even though Anderson did not resist, leading to his termination in April as a result of the incident.

According to the criminal affidavit for Robert, Anderson broke the rear window when the Hoobler stopped. Hoobler claims he used his Taser at that point.
