Commenting on the statement, the eight-time Grammy winner, during an appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” explained that his warm performance with Alicia should not be seen as “misguided.”
The headliners of the Super Bowl LVIII Half Time show stated that their performance was “literally about fun” and a tribute to the legacy of the song they created 20 years ago. “I don’t mean to disrespect anyone or anything like that.”
As for the state of his relationship with Alicia and her husband Swizz Beatz, Usher revealed that the trio laughed about the viral moment and how the Internet presented it as something vile. Remember that on the big night of the Super Bowl, Usher couldn’t keep his hands off the “If I Ain’t Got You” singer.
Alicia rocked a form-fitting jumpsuit from Dolce & Gabanna while Usher put his hands around her waist a few times before hugging her from behind as they completed their performance.

However, Swizz Beatz didn’t seem to share the criticism as he used Instagram Stories to shut down speculation and slam critics. “You all are talking about the wrong thing!!! y’all didn’t see that amazing dress covering the entire stadium ⚡️???????????,” he wrote alongside a photo of his stunning wife.
The famous producer continued, “Tonight’s performance was amazing with 2 amazing Giants! Congratulations @usher and my love @aliciakeys the song is a classic ? We don’t do negativity on this side we make history ✌? Go see the GIANTS at the @brooklynmuseum it’s open until the blessing of July ?????????? ???? .”
Usher Regrets Unchanged Performance With Nicki Minaj
While Usher didn’t feel some kind of way about his cozy performance with Alicia, the same can’t be said about his 2014 VMA performance with rap queen Nicki Minaj.
For the awards night, the Atlanta native was seen playing guitar while banging his head on Minaj’s back before standing up to give her a shot. When Tha God host Charlamagne asked about his “unaffected” performance, Usher claimed his seemingly erratic demeanor was inspired by “Jamaican culture.”
“It was just a fun moment,” he explained, noting that it wasn’t rehearsed. However, Usher admitted he had one regret about the performance. “I think I was reaching a little bit when I hit it. I shouldn’t have hit his butt,” he admitted.
The award-winning singer also commented on the viral “Boondocks” episode in which a married woman sulked and turned into Usher’s groupie in front of her husband.
