Utah woman seen hurling racial slur at interracial family, pushing pregnant mom in stomach

A Utah woman has gone viral in a video recorded over the past few months that shows her hurling hateful insults at an interracial family – even pushing a pregnant mother’s stomach.

The woman, identified by the city of Midvale as Kathy Smith, 67, is seen having a disturbing interaction with her neighbor in the video posted on X Monday.

Social media influencer TizzyEnt, who shared the video, said the hate campaign began in May after a neighbor asked the couple for help installing security cameras because he was having trouble with Smith, who allegedly told him he had to use “n—s” to set up the system.

Various clips allegedly show Smith driving by the couple’s home and using the N-word repeatedly.

“N—-s, go home!” the woman shouted at one point.

“You f—g piece of wetback s—t!” he shouted in another clip, using a derogatory term for Mexicans living in the US.

The couple’s 9-year-old son was also reportedly molested, according to the activist.

“Enter your house, n—r!” Smith allegedly told him. “I’m going to feed you to my Savannah cat.”

Kathy Smith, a 67-year-old Utah resident, has gone viral in a video showing her allegedly spewing hateful comments toward a biracial family — and shoving an expectant mother.

On Sunday, he reportedly said: “I hear you have a nappy-headed baby over there.”

In June, the distraught mother confronted the woman in her yard and told her to stay away from her family, the video shows. The footage has amassed about 1.7 million views.

But Smith was seen getting close to her face and mockingly said, “I’m so scared of you, mama bear!”

At one point, she said: “Just because you f—-g ejected a child from your stomach doesn’t mean you deserve to be a mother.

“I don’t even know if you have more than one child, but do you want to know something? I’m not talking to your kids so get the f—k out of my face,” Smith said.

Mom told him “the kids can be outside and there’s no reason why you should talk to them. They’re in our house, they’re not in yours!”

Smith later said: ‘It is a free country. Get the f—-k out of my face,” adding, “Get the f—-g baby out of here” while poking the pregnant mother in the stomach.

The social media user, TV director and editor with nearly 575,000 followers, explained that the United Police Department initially said they could not do anything against the hateful neighbor, who he said was a former prosecutor, because he said he was exercising his freedom of speech.

Smith has four active arrest warrants against him, including a misdemeanor assault charge after he forcibly “poked” the woman “before pushing her with both hands into the stomach,” Axios reported, citing records.

The family has also decided to pursue legal action against Smith and hired civil rights attorney Tyler Ayres.

Smith has been charged with misdemeanor assault.

“He had no qualms about using the N-word,” Ayres told KUTV. “He had no qualms about using it on children. Not just in front of children, but directly to them.”

The lawyer added: “She’s expecting a baby any day now, and hopefully the child doesn’t have to grow up hearing these things, because honestly it’s a real horror.”

Ayres alleges Smith began torturing the family, identified as black and interracial, shortly after they moved into the neighborhood in 2019, according to Axios.

In a statement to the news station, the Greater Salt Lake Unified Police Department said it was “investigating an incident in Midvale involving a person identified by various media outlets as making harassing and racially charged statements to neighbors.

“This disturbance is being investigated. In addition to law enforcement solutions, UPD Midvale Precinct works with other social service providers to bring about long-term solutions for any individuals involved and the community,” police said.

“We have confirmed that person has never been an attorney in the state of Utah nor has he ever been an employee of Midvale City,” the statement said.

“UPD strives to serve all members of society with equality and compassion. We are committed to finding solutions that will foster safe and healthy neighborhoods. We are committed to eradicating racism in our community and will act within our legal powers to achieve this goal,” police added.

A warrant for Smith’s arrest was issued in September, according to KUTV, which has reached out to police for comment.

The alleged racist also has warrants for speeding, failing to register an expired vehicle and property damage.

The city of Midvale has also released a statement regarding the incident.

“We believe that the behavior in the video is disgusting. To be clear, Midvale City condemns this behavior,” he said, adding that “Kathryn Smith, the person in the video, has never worked for Midvale City. We will not tolerate this behavior by an employee.

“While privacy rules prevent us from sharing details, please be assured that the relevant authorities are involved and are taking the situation seriously,” the statement said.

“Our community is very proud of our diversity; racism has no place in Midvale,” he added.

Mayor Marcus Stevenson expressed support for the targeted families.

“It’s hard to describe how disgusted I am to learn that one of our Midvale families lives in a situation where they are faced with frequent racial slurs and feel their safety is threatened,” he said on Facebook.

“To be clear, racism has no place in our community. Everyone should feel welcome, and our community’s actions should support that,” he wrote.

“I’m in touch with our city management, police department, and working to speak directly with the victims so we can work on a resolution that brings justice to this family,” Stevenson added.

Smith also has warrants for speeding, failure to register an expired vehicle and property damage, according to KUTV.
