Valerie Bertinelli is going out in the sweetest way! The entertainer ended her Food Network cooking show by paying tribute to legendary actress Betty White.
The 63-year-old rose to fame in the ’70s for his award-winning performance in the sitcom “One Day at a Time.” In fact, he got a lot of recognition for his TV appearances, especially as a chef.
However, the mother-of-one’s recipe-sharing days on the cable channel have come to an end as the platform canceled her old show. In the series finale of “Valerie’s Home Cooking,” the Wilmington native shares a delicious meal in memory of her late friend.

The brunette wore her shoulder-length hair in bouncy waves and completed her look with soft glam makeup. She accentuated her look with defined brows, flushed cheeks and pink glossy lips.
“Today, we celebrate my best friend, the best golden girl. So come to my kitchen,” the 63-year-old interjects at the start of the clip before the introductions are cut short. Speaking about his relationship with the late icon, the Wilmington native continued:
“There is no one like Miss Betty White. I am very fortunate to have known and worked with him for so long. So today’s menu is to honor him.”
As the Golden Globe Award winner spoke about her connection to the deceased, a picture of White flashed on the screen. The photos include the late animal lover posing with feral cats and shots from his scene with Bertinelli on the show “Hot in Cleveland.”

The trip down memory lane ends with a clip of the Food Network star hugging the late entertainer. Entering the content of the episode, the Hollywood Walk of Fame honoree stated that he would prepare a meal with the late actress’ favorite.
“Famously, Betty’s two favorites were vodka and red licorice. So I made homemade lemonade vodka and red licorice stuffed cupcakes,” Bertinelli announced as shots of the finished goodies flashed on screen. “And to round out the meal, a little something for me, a crispy salmon summer roll.”
The 63-year-old re-shared the clip on her Instagram Story along with a tearful message that this was her last episode of “Valerie’s Home Cooking”. The Daytime Emmy Award winner’s parting message read, “And that’s the end of Valerie’s Home Cooking. Thank you all for watching. It feels good to cook for you.”
Fans Petition Food Network To Renew Cooking Show Following Final Episode
Naturally, fans of the “Kids Baking Championship” host are saddened by the news of his final episode. These devotees took to the Food Network’s Instagram page to champion Bertinelli’s plan, begging the cable channel to renew the program.
“Please keep the show Valerie! It’s my favorite along with Kardea,” one pleaded while another lost points for the broadcast platform to consider. “Please keep this show on the air. This is a recipe we can make, nothing difficult and complicated.”
Others believe the Wilmington native’s show may be affected by other programs in the same time slot and advise the Food Network on the best way forward.
