A viral video of Dutch-Palestinian model Bella Hadid stating her support for Israel has been decided AI generated deepfake after getting more than 20 million views on X.
Posted by Israeli user Danel Ben Namer, the 28-second clip features Hadid speaking at a podium in a formal setting, with her lip movements and voice seemingly matching her statement.
“Hi, this is Bella Hadid. On October 7, 2023, Israel faced a tragic attack by Hamas. I can’t keep quiet. I apologize for my last statement,” he explained in the video.
“This tragedy has opened my eyes to the pain experienced here and I stand with Israel against terrorism. I have taken the time to really learn the historical context. Now with a clearer understanding, I hope we can engage in constructive dialogue moving forward. Thank you,” the video continued.
After rocketing across the internet, a community note was attached to the post informing users that the clip was fake.
“The audio of this video was created using AI,” the note reads. “The [original] speech is from the 2016 Lyme Alliance Global Awards where Bella Hadid received an award.”
In the original video, Hadid talked about living with Lyme disease and thanked her family for their support.
The explanation of X also states Hadid’s true position on the deteriorating conflict as the Israel Defense Forces continue their ground offensive in Gaza.
“Bella Hadid has been clear about her support for Palestine,” it read, along with a link to an article chronicling her comments and actions on the issue.

Recently, Hadid took to Instagram to express her concern over the worsening situation in the Gaza strip, where many Palestinians live — and said she has been inundated with threats since the military group that controls the area Hamas launched a deadly terrorist attack on October 7 that killed 1,400 Israelis, mostly civilians.
Citing figures from the Gaza Ministry of Health, AP has reported 8,500 deaths in Gaza so far.
“I have been sent hundreds of death threats every day, my phone number has been leaked, and my family feels in danger,” Hadid wrote.

“But I can’t stay silent anymore. Fear is not an option. The people and children of Palestine, especially in Gaza, cannot afford to remain silent. We are not brave – they are brave.”
Hadid’s father, real estate developer Mohamed Hadid, has said in an interview that his family fled Palestine in 1949 after war broke out in the region.
He currently holds Jordanian and American citizenship. Hadid’s mother, Yolanda Hadid, is Dutch.
