Vishwa Deenadayalan is a talented Indian table tennis player, who made the country famous by winning several national and international level competitions. He is the top ranked U-19 table tennis player in India. He died on April 17, 2022, when his taxi, where he was; along with 3 other players, collided with a 12-wheeler truck in Ri-Bhoi district of Shillong, Meghalaya.

Vishwa Deenadayalan, according to some sources was born on Sunday, 4 January 2004 and according to some sources, he was born on Thursday, 1 April 2004 (age 18; at time of death) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. After completing his schooling at Jaigopal Garodia Vivekananda Vidyalaya HSS, he took admission in Loyola College, Chennai. There, he was in his first year of graduation, pursuing a B.Com.

Career

As a boy, Vishwa Deenadayalan had shown a keen interest in table tennis, as a result, his father admitted him to the Krishnaswamy Table Tennis Club in Chennai. During the initial phase of his training, Vishwa was trained intensively by two famous faces in the world of table tennis, Ramnath Prasad and Jai Prabhu Ram. As Vishwa’s skills in table tennis improved, he went on to become a member of the famous Tamizaga Table Tennis Association (TTTA) State Men’s team. Vishwa in 2019, reached the pre-quarters at the Hyderabad National, along with his mixed doubles partner, Selena Deepthi. Vishwa, as part of the Tamizhaga Table Tennis Association (TTTA) State Men’s team, has been selected for the 83rd National and Inter-State Senior Table Tennis Competition in Shillong. Selection for the Shillong squad was not that easy for Vishwa, as he had to beat another ace player, Malesh Kumar, in the selection match.

Vishwa is such a good player that, due to his skills, he was selected to be a part of the Indian squad, which will represent the country in the U-19 World Junior Table Tennis Tournament in Linz, Austria. The international tournament will start on April 27, 2022.

Death

On 17 April 2022, Vishwa Deenadayalan was traveling from Guwahati airport to Shillong, to participate in the 83rd National and Inter-State Senior Table Tennis Competition. He got into a taxi, along with three other players; when the taxi collided with a 12-wheel lorry on National Highway – 6. With the help of local residents, the young player was rushed to the local public hospital in Nongpoh, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

M. Nithyashree, who is a TTTA women paddler stated in an interview,

The entire TTTA team (men & women) left Guwahati airport on Sunday around 12.30-1245 pm in three different cars. When our car reached the spot, we saw our coach Jai Prabhu Ram and some locals rescuing our rowers from the accident site. There were no signs of injury on Vishwa. We screamed and screamed his name and hoped he would open his eyes, but there was absolutely no response from him. Then a medical student or doctor also tried to perform CPR. Then he was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital soon.”
