The former The Biggest Loser The coach shared that one of the biggest issues he got away from using drugs, was weight gain. “Once they come off the drug, it has a rehabilitative effect.”
He elaborated, “So you get nothing. You quit drugs in a year and go backwards. You don’t learn anything. You don’t build any strength or physical endurance. You haven’t learned how to eat healthy.”
An obesity doctor was contacted by PEOPLE supporting Jillian’s claim. Dr. Ania Jastreboff, said that for the drug to continue to improve the lives of those who use it, they need to use it for a long time, or yes, they will gain weight.
Since diabetes and obesity are “chronic issues,” this would be the best way for the drug to work and keep those who use it at a healthy weight. But as Jillian mentioned the side effects can make them very sick.
